Perfecting the Bar Cart | Proper Glasses to Use & Stock Up On

Tuesday, April 15, 2014
Rather than our usual Tabletop Tuesday, we thought we would switch things up a little bit and give you a taste of something else!  If you’re a frequent visitor of Pinterest or of certain blogs, you have probably seen quite a few bar carts and how to create a great set up.  They mostly show you an image and explain how the bar cart has really transformed the space it now occupies.  These assumptions are very true to form, a bar cart can really transform a small space and turn a drab corner into a fabulous place to assemble drinks and display decanters and pretty bottles.  And even though these items make a bar cart stand out, there are essential items that need to be included, by this we are talking about the proper glasses to use and stock up on.  Serving drinks in their appropriate glassware not only makes your hosting style timeless and elegant, but gives an extra something, something to the drink you are serving.  Since we are in the business of tabletop we are all about perfecting these types of things and sometimes could even be considered OCD about things like this, but that’s what makes us good at what we do!  Personally, what stands out the most on a bar cart are the glasses anyways.  So today we bring you what glasses are appropriate for certain drinks and alcohol types.

Enjoy!

Bar cart | While these main seven glasses are pretty essential to a perfect bar cart, the copper mug is a fun addition for the occasional Moscow Mule.

Old Fashion: Traditionally used to serve an Old Fashion drink or short mixed drinks, also used for serving whiskey on the rocks.  Click here for the recipe of an Old Fashion.
Martini: Used to serve chilled cocktails with an aromatic element, commonly known as the Martini.  The stem of the glass was designed to prevent temperature changes to the drink when held.  Martini recipes
Highball: A style of glass that every bar should have, typically used for mixed drinks.
Collins Glass:  Used to serve mixed drinks, more specifically the Tom Collins drink.
Wine Glasses: Used for both red and white wine.
Champagne Flute: Used to serve champagne, the long stem is similar to the martini glass so the temperature of the drink is not affected when being drunk.  Our favorite champagne, Veuve Clicquot and Dom Perignon!
Copper Mug: Specifically used to serve the Moscow Mule.  See our blog post on how to make these delightful drinks!
Shot Glass: Considered a novelty item usually used to measure liquor and is either drunk straight from the glass or poured into another glass.

All these glasses are available for rental at P.O.S.H. Couture Rentals®.

In addition to the glasses on the bar cart, there are some other essentials that will make your bar cart cute and stand out!

Welcome Home Baby Lupita!

Friday, March 28, 2014
Wednesday, March 26th, our P.O.S.H.® family got to celebrate something very special.  One of our guys, Raul, and his family got to bring home their baby girl from the hospital last week!

Her full name is Guadalupe Vanessa Moreno and she was born on October 12th 2013 at only 1.8 ounces. After countless consultations, complications and 3 major surgeries she is happy, healthy and strong and was able to go home with her family on Saturday March 22nd.

We love when we can all come together for a celebration and get everyone in one place at the same time, which can be very rare!  It was only appropriate that we all celebrated this special little girl with a surprise baby shower here in our office with lots of pink and cake of course.

It was a blast to see the look on Raul’s face when he walked through the door and be able to be a part of this exciting time!

Congratulations to Jackson Goetze!

We are proud to announce that Jackson is officially a Black Belt First Degree.
As working mothers we still have jobs outside of our P.O.S.H. lives that extend to our families and children.

Jack has worked hard with the support of family and grandparents for almost three years to achieve this goal.  It has taken approximately 39,720 hours of practice, 17 belt tests, hundreds of broken boards, one broken nose, 5 regional tournaments, 4 national tournaments and 13,240 miles on the family car.  Jack has met all requirements to become an instructor and will be testing for that soon.

Congratulations from your POSH Family!!!

In true P.O.S.H. fashion we decided to throw a little party to celebrate. And the way Jack wanted to mark this special day was with sushi...so sushi we did!

It seemed only fitting that we would use our P.O.S.H. China collections and our perfectly portioned Asian Influence China to do so.  We combined the aspect of sushi with the idea of earning the black belt and came up with a black belt themed sushi party incorporating pieces from classic china to black and red dishes to Asian inspired china pieces.  The outcome was just what you would imagine any party with this theme to be and was the perfect way to celebrate such a great accomplishment.

For our table design, we used the white Asian influence china with a black charger to symbolize the black belt, and added a red dish to tie in the dragon themed linens which pulled the entire look together.  In the end, it was a fun way to combine all aspects of the theme and made for an even better celebratory dinner for Jack!

Taekwondo America students learn patterns of moves called forms (also called hyungs and katas), spar with approved protective gear and break boards.
