With the Arctic Vortex literally putting a chill on our bright outlook, we knew it was time for a Spring throwback. The Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas (one of our favorite venues not only for parties and weddings but also to peruse on the random day off from work) shared a video highlighting their Garden Party from last year. We had the pleasure of working with amazing DFW vendors, like Mary Wright Shaw and Jackson Durham to name a few. This should get you in the mood for planning your next Spring soiree.

Tabletop Tuesday // The Power of Simplicity

The power of simplicity perfectly captured for a Meadows Museum Donor Dinner.

 Sometimes all you really need for a stunning tabletop are a few simple silver patterns and exquisite crystal or glass. The power of simplicity is  perfectly captured at a donor dinner for SMU's Meadow Museum with a concept created by Marin Fiske-Rankin, Meadows Events and Food Service Manager. Marin wanted an impressive display without making it too formal, so she scaled back from a full tabletop to hand-picked pieces that would stand out when handled by the guest yet blended effortlessly with a vibrant linen from La Tavola and the landscape of the room. As always, we think Marin captured the essence of the evening beautifully. This look could easily translate to an elegant holiday tabletop or winter place setting. Tabletop Tuesday: Scarlet Spring

This noteworthy Spring tablescape comes just in time for Mother's Day. Rapturous hues of pink, red, and raspberry accented by glorious gold make a traditional brunch go from lackluster to lively. Designed by event planner Mary Wright Shaw with florals from the amazing team at Jackson Durham, this gorgeous look is definitely one to pin as you plan for May celebrations.

To make sure the design wasn't too saccharine, Shaw spiced up the sweet hues with gold chiavari chairs and stemware. Below are close up of the fabulous details of the P.O.S.H. pieces. Inspired by Prada's Fall 2012 runway, Todd Fiscus designed a lavish tablescape for Dallas Bride on the idea of transitioning from fall to spring. We love the mixture of metals, gilded accents, and of course, baroque beauty - perfect for a true tastemaker or bride. According to Todd, in order to truly go baroque, "you have to take it 25 percent too far." Too far turns out to be too perfect.

Tabletop Tuesday: Blue + White

Mottahedeh Lace Charger with Blue+White China is the perfect foundation for a timeless setting. Serving fresh blueberries in our Vintage Glass Compotes is a nice added touch. Rentals, POSH.

Blue and White china calls to mind the tablescapes of the most iconic of tastemakers, from the timeless Jackie O to the more modern Tory Burch. When we see a place setting like this we think of memories being made around the table by friends and family, long weekends on the East Coast, and Southern pomp and circumstance. There is definitely no reason to be blue when looking at this gorgeous foundation. We've had our mind on this beauty since last Fall, when Mathes and Co. designed it for the NACE Color Me a Cure Tablescape Competition. It is the perfect toast to the longer days of Spring and Summer. This fantastic celebration of classic designs (blue + white china, striped linens) calls for guests to linger long after the food has been served. We can just imagine the conversations that would fill the air.

Green chiavari chairs are a brilliant and bright focal point for this Spring tablescape.

With emerald getting a lot of glory as Pantone's Color of the Year, we thought we'd throw around a little mean green love for this gorgeous Spring tablescape. Tabletop Tuesday: Pleasing Purple

There is snow coming down outside (not a lot, but still) and chilly temperatures, so we're warming up with a little inspiration from our friends at Todd Events. To remind us that spring is just around the corner, the latest D Weddings features a hue we're seeing a lot of lately - purple. Play it sweet with pastes or glam it up by mixing in black, as shown below. This wouldn't be a bad bet for a Valentine's dinner, now would it?
