Moodboard: Paris, je t'aime

Thursday, October 4, 2012
Why do we love Paris so much? The whimsical and chic of lovers and travelers strikes a chord in both young and old. We are no stranger to this Parisian addiction. The feeling must be in the air because we're seeing a lot of behind-the-scenes action on photo shoots based around the idea of French love, Marie Antoinette, and of course, serious coverage from Paris Fashion Week. Over the next week, POSH Preference will be in Paris,  sharing the sights and inspiration from the city of love and lights. If you have a smartphone, be sure to follow us on Instagram (user name posh_preference) or here with your computer. In the meantime, get in the mood with one of our favorite bloggers - the adorable Garance Dore - and her Pardon My French series.

Top Row: Parisian Chic: A Style Guide by Ines de al Fressange * A stylish guide to the ultra cool Ines de la Fressange. I mean, can't we all learn something from the lady who inspires Jenny Lyons and closes Karl Lagerfield's Chanel runway shoes in her fifties? /  Paris, Je t'aime * Great quote; great film. / The Louvre * Amazing art inspires everything. / Ladurée * The only sweets that matter, since 1862.
Middle Row: The Eiffel Tower * This image captures what we love best about Paris - a magical morning on a terrace built for two with the Eiffel Tower in the background. / Marie Antoinette * The ill-fated queen with great sartorial influence and a flair for phrases ("Let them eat cake.") has inspired us since childhood. Even Sofia Coppola couldn't let her be lost in history. (Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette.)
Bottom: Champagne * The only true place to partake in the bubbly! / Vintage Parisian Carnival Glassware * The perfect glassware for your inner Francophile, available at POSH Couture Rentals. / The Palace of Versailles * Need we say more?

POSH Picks: Jewel Tones

In the following weeks, we will share with you the POSH picks from our own tastemakers. The changing of seasons always plays strongly with event and wedding design. With Fall, Jami and Laurel are both strongly influenced by jewel tones, and they aren't the only ones. The runways at Tom Ford and Oscar de la Renta also revealed emerald and deep blue hues that hit a strong chord when it comes to influencing our Autumn tablescapes. Whatever you have planned, keep these color schemes on your personal moodboard.

1 - 2. Mysore Bark and Emerald Circle Satin linens from Resource One, exclusively at POSH Couture Rentals.
3. Tom Ford for Neiman Marcus, Fall 2012.
4. Perhaps the perfect mascot for a POSH Fall - the jewel toned peacock.
5. Oscar de la Renta, Fall 2012.
6 - 7. Electric Blue Circle and Prussian Blue Bark linen from Resource One, exclusively at POSH Couture Rentals.

On Trend: Jami's Fall Picks

As purveyors of tabletops, and exclusively providers of Resource One linens, we are obviously strongly influenced by fabulous linens. Jami loves the Bark linens, which range in color from Olivewood and Nutmeg to Garnett and Raisin. We love that they come in a variety of colors and maintain a luxurious texture that perfectly accessorizes any china collection. This line especially reminds us of Fall leaves and landscapes. How would you use these colors in your Fall tablesapes?

On Trend: Jami's Fall Picks

We asked Jami to pick her favorite pieces from our Couture Collections. For  Fall, she chose the classic Maple Leaf Charger and Metallic Moss Chargers with the Exotic Bird and Mottahedeh Tree China Collections. Mix and match these collections for your needs, and you'll have a perfectly POSH tabletop.

Agenda: Jami

What does Jami have on her agenda for Fall? Find out below.

What do you most look forward to for Fall?
The weather so I can wear my favorite Burberry quilted jacket, leggings, and boots. Oh, did you mean for work? - I love the Fall. It is my favorite season, and Halloween really is my favorite holiday.

What is your favorite way to celebrate Fall?
Fall baseball and Honeycrisp  Apples, a little "nip" in my hot chocolate, Frito Pie, and finally getting to go for a walk outside.

Favorite Fall fashions?
Besides the Burberry and boots listed earlier, I love a fun fur coat and Chanel jewel tone tweed sweaters.

1. Channeling: Cozy knits as shown on Charlize Theron, fun furs as shown on Lee Radziwill, and Grace Kelly in Fall. (Images via here.)
2. Wearing: The latest Burberry quilted coat from the Fall 2012 runways.
3. Partaking: Getting cozy with comfort foods like hot chocolate, honeycrisp apples, and Frito Pie.
4. Doing: Walks outside down beautiful Fall streets, watching baseball, enjoying the great weather, and, of course, Halloween!

Tabletop Tuesday: Golden Glow

When we saw the golden glow of this tablescape from Jordan Payne Events, we knew it was perfect for Fall. But it was the traditional earth tones and couture china mixed with the modern ghost chair that really caught our eye. The juxtaposition between classic and contemporary is perfect for the modern bride or the hostess with the mostess. Our favorite part? Jordan mixed three different goblets for a truly unique look that makes this POSH tabletop stand out. All you need now is the perfect apple cider recipe for our Amber Goblet!

Rentals: Gold Florentine Charger, Sevres China Collection, Silver Scroll salad plate and bowl, Floral Elegance Flatware, Gold Filigree Etched Glassware, Royal Gold Glassware, and Amber Goblet. All POSH Couture Rentals. / Gold Jacquard linen and Kartell Ghost Chair by Resource One, exclusively at POSH Couture Rentals.

Fall Wedding Style: Part 2

In part two of our Fall wedding style, we're picking the details and decor that really make your wedding stand out from the rest. From couture china place settings to creative seating cards and pumpkins, you're sure to find inspiration for your special day. If you missed part one of this series, you can read it here

1. Seating & Favors - Emily Clarke Events used succulents and moss as the perfect backdrop for beautiful hand calligraphy seating cards. Make your guests (and their tummies) happy with festive favors, like these apples and bread and butter pickles. See these images and more on our Pinterest.
2.  POSH Place Settings - (Left) Dallas photographer Stacy Reeves got in front of the camera for a change with a gorgeous wedding at Bass Hall. We loved her wedding place settings, featuring POSH's Mottahedeh Lace Charger, Arte Italica dinner plate, Silver Goblet, and Hot Cha Cha chiavari chair treatments, captured by Christian Oth Studios. (Right) The Jan Barboglio hammered charger and Amber Goblet, perfect for Fall! Image credit Emily Clarke Events.
3. I Do Decor - (Left) Is there anything that says Fall wedding more than an "I do" pair of pumpkins? Adorable! (Right) The perfect place to for the "first look" or the first picture of the newlyweds.
4. For the Bride - (From left) A few of our favorite things: Deep hues mixed with jewel tones make an ideal bridal bouquet; a faux fur shrug for cool nights; an embroidered handkerchief in lieu of a paper program.

Tabletop Tuesday: Great Gatsby

Tuesday, October 2, 2012
We were so excited to be a part of this Style Me Pretty shoot at The Hickory Street Annex in downtown Dallas, partly because of the amazing vendors and creative minds designing the shoot, and partly because the style was something we have been loving for a while now - The Great Gatsby! Brittany Nicole Photography came up the concept because of her own love for the 1920s, and we loved the twist on a traditional wedding reception. This theme would be great for a gala or even a costume party. See more images of the event and read about Brittany's idea behind the shoot here

1. An art-deco invitation is a must for any Gatsby style event. Love this one by U Lucky Girl. / What would a bride be without her bouquet or wedding bands? Floral Design by Ashlilium and jewelry by Crown Jewelers.
2. - 3. Resource One's Cameo Rosette, exclusively at POSH Couture Rentals, has a flirty hue that carries off a rich texture reminiscent of the luxurious Roaring 20's. Add in POSH Couture Rentals Elise Crystal Champagne Flutes, Gold Bead Charger, Sevres China Collection, and Clear Chloe Goblets for added opulence.
4. What's a Great Gatsby themed wedding without an equally impressive cake? Sugar Bee Sweets did not dissappoint in creating a cake as luscious looking as it is sure to taste.
5. Of course, no table is complete with out seating fit for royalty. The chiavari chair has long been held in high regard the deluxe choice for those with discriminating taste. Gold chiavari chairs with ivory linen cushions from POSH Couture Rentals.

Fall Wedding Style: Part 1

Monday, October 1, 2012
Crisp air, no humidity, and perfect temperatures make blushing brides agree with us - October and November really are the perfect months for Texas weddings. This, along with the fact that our own Meg Hayes is getting married next month, means wedding fever is in the air! With Fall love all around, we thought we'd share our favorite seasonal elements for a perfectly POSH soiree. Check back later this week for round two of our picks.

1. Linen Love - Luxurious linens match the texture of Fall leaves and foliage. We love Resource One's Ivory Petal Taffeta linen (left) and Hot Cha Cha Chiavari Chair Treatment, exclusively at POSH Couture Rentals (right) photographed by Christian Oth Studios.
2. Fall Aisle & Seating - Take advantage of the gorgeous outdoors by lining your aisle with jewel toned petals (left), or go with a strong Fall theme like this Emily Clarke Events wedding (right). We love how she used harvest elements; they especially look great for a head table with POSH fruitwood chiavari chairs.
3. Mood Lighting - Lanterns, lanterns, lanterns! Is there anything more romantic? Images via here.
4. Bring Nature Indoors - If the weather happens to be too cool or you just prefer an indoor ceremony, don't be afraid to bring nature inside! We love the foliage and tree designs from this gorgeous Fall wedding (left), as well as the always amazing tablescapes from Branching Out, photographed by Andrea Polito Photography (right).
