Rustic Chic

There is something so whimsical about a rustic chic theme.  The combination of the wood, neutral tones and elegant details creates an allure that is hard not to picture it somewhat out of a fairytale at times.  In fact, the perception of rustic chic can mean something different to everyone!  Yet to most, rustic chic bares an element of southern charm that is hard to shake (and we think it is what makes it so ideal)!  To some it may mean outdoors with all natural elements and simple at times, while others may picture a combination of garden-like décor with rustic elements.  A barn is not necessary to create a wonderful rustic chic décor!  Either way, trying to achieve a rustic chic appearance stands out on its own, if done right.

Incorporating rustic chic into your event can be done with the smallest of details to overall themes.  There are pieces such as the mason jar, string lighting, and wood farm tables or cross-back chairs that are essential to a rustic theme.  Overall, we love how these elements come together to create the perfect table and are partial to going all out to create the perfect look. 

Our ideal rustic chic table design incorporates many of our P.O.S.H.® pieces to create the perfect design.  Our first thought is to use our wooden mayflower farm table and wooden cross-back chairs that exude the feeling of rustic and honestly they go together better than peanut butter and jelly.  In terms of creating the perfect tabletop, see below for what we believe are some of the best pieces to create rustic chic perfection!

Tabletop Tuesday | Sneak Peek

Tonight we'll be celebrating the 5th anniversary of one of our favorite wedding publications - The Brides of North Texas. Those gals certainly know how to throw a ball, so be sure to follow us on Instagram and Twitter later for behind-the-scenes action. This image pays homage to our new website's virtual table, where you'll be able to play with patterns to your hearts content. We can't wait for you to see it! WW: Ornate Beauty

We were thrilled to see this feature on CeciStyle Magazine with a luxurious Napa Valley wedding. Jordan Payne of Jordan Payne Events created an opulent affair for bride and groom Alice and Jason. Jordan's creative counterpart - the award-winning Ceci Johnson of Ceci New York, created an invitation suites that captured the ornate details of the event in paper form. We feel about Alice the way we sure Jordan and Ceci did, she is the epitome of the modern bride - elegant, enchanting, and appreciative of the details that take tradition with a twist to reflect their lifestyle and attitude. In other words, Alice is a POSH bride after our own hearts.

Tabletop Tuesday: PETITE Peter Rabbit

Can you say adorable? For the 2014 NACE Tabletop Competition, Mathes & Co. designed an incredible table for all those little POSH Petites out there . The classic childhood tale of our favorite mischievous bunny Peter Rabbit influenced this lush creation, complete with carrot-shaped favors and garden-inspired tabletop collections. The only thing missing are a few cute kiddos to enjoy this fun theme!

Color Envy: Going Green for Fall

Fall is all about the classics for us. When hosting our first soirees, we like tried-and-true patterns that mix easily with new chargers and seasonal palettes, which is one of the reasons why the Sevres Collection is at the top of everyone's list for favorite china patterns. 

Yesterday, we touched on tips for planning Fall fetes, including dressing the part (both in our wardrobe and on our table). We love the undeniable style of Marilyn Monroe - she who could turn from girl next door to bombshell. This nostalgic photo of her is a look we'd like to carry out in our hostess duties - easy, sophisticated, and the perfect mix of black and green for Fall. Translated to tabletop, we'd take the same classic style, pop of color, and undeniable glamour by adding the Sevres Collection. Spotted: POSH Around Town

Our clients come up with the most creative concepts, fun parties, and beautiful tablescapes. Here's a glimpse at what our P.O.S.H. pals around town have been playing with this summer.

Floral design Bryan Long obviously has more up his sleeve than transforming floral arrangements. We fell in love with his hydrangea green chiavari chair treatment (above) and can't wait to share more from him. Check back next week for a Q&A, and be sure to check out his website here.

Throw a POSH Picnic

With the last month of summer sure to fly by, we're dreaming of last minute excursions to the lake or coast for a POSH picnic with close friends and loved ones. Gather together an array of artisan cheeses and meats, fresh fruit, white wine, lemonade for the little ones, and perhaps even a pie or baked goods. We like to make the whole experience memorable, so we pick an assortment of china and glassware that fits the vibe and makes a good backdrop for a festive afternoon of great conversation and fun photo ops. This Fort Worth wedding captured an evening of magic moments that we had to share with you. Eat: Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese

Our perfect morning? Yummy Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese, a little reading, and perfectly P.O.S.H. China. Get the look with Antique Sevres Tea Cup and Saucer, Sophia Salad Plate, Contrella Dessert Plate, Artesian Flatware

Whether you're playing hostess or just in the need for a little comfort food in the morning, gooey, warm cinnamon rolls seem to always fit the bill. This recipe creates the perfect texture and tenderness for your roles and will likely be a favorite your family wants every weekend. If you want to play around even more, add a little vanilla. Mmm-hmm good! Remember, special treats deserve special presentation. Break out the china for the fam, or if holding a brunch or guests, reserve specialty china, like our Sevres or Mahogany Rose Collections. Just you? Well you deserve a special place setting to go along with your morning "me" time. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Dough: 

1 cup whole milk 

3 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 1/2 cups (or more) unbleached all purpose flour, divided
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
2 1/4 teaspoons rapid-rise yeast (from 2 envelopes yeast)
1 teaspoon salt
Nonstick vegetable oil spray Filling:
3/4 cup (packed) golden brown sugar
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature Glaze:
4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

For dough:
Combine milk and butter in glass measuring cup. Microwave on high until butter melts and mixture is just warmed to 120°F to 130°F, 30 to 45 seconds. Pour into bowl of stand mixer fitted with paddle attachment. Add 1 cup flour, sugar, egg, yeast, and salt. Beat on low speed 3 minutes, stopping occasionally to scrape down sides of bowl. Add 21/2 cups flour. Beat on low until flour is absorbed and dough is sticky, scraping down sides of bowl. If dough is very sticky, add more flour by tablespoonfuls until dough begins to form ball and pulls away from sides of bowl. Turn dough out onto lightly floured work surface. Knead until smooth and elastic, adding more flour if sticky, about 8 minutes. Form into ball.

Lightly oil large bowl with nonstick spray. Transfer dough to bowl, turning to coat. Cover bowl with plastic wrap, then kitchen towel. Let dough rise in warm draft-free area until doubled in volume, about 2 hours.

For filling:
Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in medium bowl.

Punch down dough. Transfer to floured work surface. Roll out to 15x11-inch rectangle. Spread butter over dough, leaving 1/2-inch border. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly over butter. Starting at 1 long side, roll dough into log, pinching gently to keep it rolled up. With seam side down, cut dough crosswise with thin sharp knife into 18 equal slices (each about 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide).

Spray two 9-inch square glass baking dishes with nonstick spray. Divide rolls between baking dishes, arranging cut side up (there will be almost no space between rolls). Cover baking dishes with plastic wrap, then kitchen towel. Let dough rise in warm draft-free area until almost doubled in volume, 40 to 45 minutes.

Position rack in center of oven and preheat to 375°F. Bake rolls until tops are golden, about 20 minutes. Remove from oven and invert immediately onto rack. Cool 10 minutes. Turn rolls right side up.

For glaze:
Combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter, and vanilla in medium bowl. Using electric mixer, beat until smooth. Spread glaze on rolls. Serve warm or at room temperature.

If you're feeling peachy keen

Pretty in peach: A simply white square dinner plate adds a modern element to this sweet peach tablescape. It's like a white tee for your couture ballgown. Jil Sander would approve.

 We love a great peachy hue. It basks in Summer tablescapes with hints of orange and red or sets off a sweet yet simple place setting. Come Fall, it strikes a chord with deep browns and greens. Simply put, it's the under-appreciated neutral of the color wheel. So, if you are already thinking about peach when it comes to event decor or your fashionable attire, go for it. Peachy keen, indeed. 

Chic peach: If simple is not your calling card (don't worry, we always think more is better), then call out the couture with a luxe layered look that will go from sweet to sassy with the bat of an eye.
