Traditional vs. Modern

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

Your personality should shine through your tabletop, especially during the holidays. Tradition and holiday hues can still be applied, but be sure that guests see a true reflection of the host where they sit. It is the most sincere and authentic gesture you can make when breaking bread with family and friends. Whatever your personal style or the interior design of your home, you can put together an exceptional tabletop for the holidays with a little help from your friends at POSH.

Traditional Tabletop
You have Mary McDonald's prints and patterns in your dining room and your own collection of Mottahedeh. How to spruce it up a little differently this year? Bring in the Versailles Silver Charger for an added layer of silver and the Parisian Flatware for just the right amount of gold. Forgo the same stemware as last year with a touch of true luxury with our Elise Cut Crystal Stemware for toasting all night long. And when dinner is finally served, look no further than our vintage silver dome platter - the presentation will definitely be worth it.

Modern Tabletop
Embrace the Art Deco theme that is taking everyone by storm. Choose luxe cut crystal with a geometric cut charger and a truly modern shape with our Artesian Flatware. Nothing says modern like a pop art throwback, which calls for a Chloe goblet in holiday hues of red and emerald green. The final touch? An immaculate clear ghost chair from Resource One. You're set for Christmas.

POSH 101 | Set up the Bar

Thursday, November 21, 2013
Just a taste of what POSH has to offer in glassware. Rows from top left: Crystal Champagne Coup, Classico Flute, Pure Flute, Silver Floral Lace Flute, Valencia Etched Glass Flute / Balloon Red Wine, Classico White Wine, Red Chloe, Purple Stella / Classico Pilsner, Gold Scroll Pilsner / Irish Coffee Mug, Classico Old Fashioned, Brandy Snifter, Elise Cut Crystal Double Old Fashioned / Classico Cordial, Gold Leaf Cordial, Gold Floral Lace "Hot Toddy" Demitasse. Note: Blue circles indicate new items.
Mixologists, craft beers, and specialty cocktails are on the rise in Dallas. As the holiday season kicks into high gear, we're brainstorming on how to incorporate the best beverages into our parties. Of course, presentation is everything, so here are a few tips on picking the perfect statement stemware for an impressive displays come cocktail hour.

Serve your SPARKLING WINES in flutes, tulips, and coups. Fun fact: The original cocktail was served in a coup as is making a big comeback thanks to vintage inspired bars and movies like The Great Gatsby. Build a champagne tower of crystal coups or serve up some bubbly in shimmering etched flutes, like our Valencia Etched Stemware or Silver Floral Lace Flute - perfect for toasting the holidays or bringing in the New Year!

WINES are meant to be enhanced by their stemware. We offer everything from Riedel's award-winning linen of stemware to fun alternatives in bright pops of color and whimsical patterns. Our favorite new addition? The purple Stella goblet - it's sturdy with a wide mouth, perfect for pouring and sipping throughout the night.

Serve straight liquors in their specific glassware. We offer everything from shot glasses and cognac and brandy snifters to martini glasses and old-fashioneds. We love the idea of a seasonal warm beverage served in our Hot Toddy demitasse or Irish Coffee Mug. For dessert wines, pick a cordial that serves just the right amount for such a sweet liquor.

What else do you need for the perfect bar? How about a perfect ride. We love UBER for their posh ride, plus you can drink and dance the night away without worrying about driving.

If you're thinking about the seaside

Left, The Princess of all Princesses, Grace Kelly playing photographer at a swimming competition at Palm Beach, Monte Carlo in 1972. Right, The ease of rattan charges and the elegance of cut crystal. Get the look with P.O.S.H.: Round Rattan Charger, Michelangelo Flatware, Elise Cut Crystal Stemware
Just because you're sitting by the sea doesn't mean you lack the style of a P.O.S.H. place setting for your guests. Take a cue from the always on point Grace Kelly, who took the laid-back vibe of beach life by mixing it with the elegance of a princess. Bring texturized elements, like rattan chargers and fruitwood chiavaris, and pair them with crystal stemware or luxurious metals for a seaside embrace of the high-low trend. Palm Beach approved.

Entertain: Christmas in Corinthia

Thursday, December 20, 2012
Yesterday we introduced you to our friend Marin Fiske-Rankin. (If you missed her incredible Christmas memories growing up on Corinthia, her family's horse-racing farm in Kentucky, you can check it out here. Trust us; her pictures will make you want to immediately move to the countryside and ride horses.) Hailing from Lexington means she is not only from the "Horse Capitol of the World" but also the "Bourbon Capitol of the World". Of course, we had to ask her how to make the perfect libation for cold, winter nights. With an English father who makes a mean mincemeat pie, she also shared her family recipe for Yorkshire Puddings. In return, we created the perfect tabletop for a Corinthia Christmas.

Tabletop Tuesday: The Fall Feast

Tuesday, November 13, 2012
During the holidays, the biggest gatherings revolve around the table. So you can't just have any old linen taking center stage for such important events. One of our favorite fall/winter linens is the Resource One Umber Taffeta with Chocolate Applique. Its rich design and texture sets the perfect tone for a fall feast. Plus, its unique color can transform pulls from the elements of the tablescape. Bring in bright china patterns and florals for a modern take on tabletop or play up the darker tones for a more traditional look. We love it either way. Which do you prefer?

Tabletop Tuesday: Velazquez at Meadows Museum

Tuesday, September 25, 2012
The Meadows Museum at Southern Methodist University has always done a fantastic job curating exceptional exhibits in Dallas. Now, their collaboration with Madrid's famed Prado Museum has set the bar even higher for not just Texas but museums nationwide. In fact, the latest exhibit features important works from Diego Velazquez which art historians now believe to be the first portraits of Spain's King Philip IV. Take advantage of your close vicinity to SMU and see what even The Washington Post is calling "the most important exhibit devoted to Velazquez in the U.S. in more than two decades." (The exhibit will run through January.) We were honored to be a part of the Velazquez Black Tie Dinner, designed by SMU's Marin Fiske-Rankin and photographed by Tamytha Cameron Smith. To learn more about the Prado - Meadows collaboration, visit here.

Tabletop Tuesday: Rustic Elegance

Tuesday, August 28, 2012
Branching Out Floral & Event Design recently participated in a "Christmas in July" event at the Crescent Club. Their mission? You guessed it - create a unique holiday look for the Gourmet Room. The design team based their blended vibe of rustic elegance was inspired by owner Debby Jewesson's love for the understated glamour of Ralph Lauren. We think she captured the RL essence perfectly. Will this inspire your holiday Pinterest boards? It already has ours!

Weddings Roundup: Southern Belles

Monday, July 30, 2012
We love seeing the belle of the ball embrace her Southern roots. DFW Events designed the themes for today's weddings, stylishly moving from the country club to an outdoor scenic setting.

First up, high school sweethearts Sarah Howard and Lev Prichard. This beautiful wedding at the Highland Park Presbyterian Church followed by a reception at Royal Oaks Country Club looked classy with charming, personalized touches throughout. Next, Southern charm knows no bounds in the wedding of Meredith Ellis and Robert Ulibarri. Meredith's family owns and operates G bar C Ranch, so it was the perfect backdrop for her own wedding reception. This rustic setting proves country can be cool and classy.
