To Do: Free Love Wedding

Friday, February 8, 2013

When we first heard of Free Love Wedding, we knew immediately we wanted to be involved. Working with the most creative vendors in the industry to create an unforgettable event for one amazing couple? Where do we sign up? Bows and Arrows, the brainchild behind the Free Love enterprise, and the passion of the other vendors we talked to got us even more excited once we saw how involved they would be. "Every year we see so many couples who compromise the vision of their dream wedding in order to stay in budget," says Alicia Rico of Bows and Arrows. "Free Love is an opportunity for us to collaborate in an unique way to make one captivating couple's dreams come true."

So what is Free Love Wedding? Starting appropriately on Valentine's Day, engaged couples have the chance to enter Free Love by submitting their love story in 300 words of less (short and sweet, just like you) along with a picture of the happy couple and an inspiration board. (Most of the vendors are on pinterest, including us. See all the vendors here.) Entries can only be received between Feb. 14th - Feb. 28th for the Big Day, which will be held in Dallas on Sunday, October 20, 2013. If that works for you, be sure to take this weekend and write your story. That's your weekend assignment - get after it!

RTW: Lady in Red

Thursday, February 7, 2013
You've met Katherine first when she picked out the perfect attire for holiday gatherings (if you missed it, go here and read all about our favorite Neiman Marcus gal). Well, she's back and brimming with fantastic ideas for what to wear on the night that you really, really want to go out with the Mr. or really, really just want to hang out with the girls. Yep, we're talking about Valentine's Day.

Dear Katherine,

What on earth to wear for the most dreadful wonderful night of the year?

 1. Whilst red may not be original, it's ALWAYS romantic. For a big night, try some serious structure that will inspire you to carry yourself with an air of confidence.
J. Mendel / Alexander McQueen / Herver Leger

2. Be fun and flirty for a night out on the town with the girls.
Aidan Mattox

3. Keep it all under wraps and spark and air of mystery.
Alice by Temperley

4. The last look should be as good as the first. Pick a dress with a beautiful back to make sure you leave just as gracefully as you entered.
Clockwise from top center:  Zac Posen front and backKay Unger New York front and back / ML Monique Lhuillier front and back

Lovely lace for a feminine, flirty look.
1. Jimmy Choo
2. Valentino Couture

Sexy studs for the modern stilleto. Too tough? Ruffles always win.
3. Valentino Rockstud
4. Lanvin

Shine bright like a diamond. ; )
5. Jimmy Choo
6. Rena Caovilla

Need help finding these pieces or just a chic new look? Just call Katherine. And be sure to check back next month for her picks on wedding wear.

Concept, design + florals by DEBBY JEWESSON, BRANCHING OUT FLORAL & EVENT DESIGN

All photography by GARY DONIHOO for F8 STUDIO

Whether she is doing a majestic hanging garden to canopy the wedding party or an ethereal centerpiece, Debby Jewesson knows a thing or two about brightening your event with flora and fauna. Published in this Spring's D Weddings issue, Debby was given the task of a white tablescape. Knowing the beauty of pure white, she kept the look simple and clean for a big impact. We love the contemporary flair of this tabletop. Can you image sitting down to what is essentially several of your own floral centerpieces? As always, Debby is ahead of the curve.
