Opposites Attract | Black + White

Friday, February 7, 2014
The colors black and white complement each other so well that it is almost a no-brainer when it comes to pairing them together.  Yet, when you really think about it…black and white are complete opposites.  So today, we bring you the color combination that is so appealing, yet so opposite.

The combination of black and white has been around since, well, forever.  Both colors can seem so plain, but at the same time they can be so dramatic.  Light and dark, clean and dirty, effortless and chic…these all describe the color combination and the essence that opposites attract.  As Coco Chanel said, “Women think of all colors except the absence of color. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony.”

Row 1: Match your stemware to your accessories like we did here.  Pair your favorite bag and in this case, the YSL Sac de Jur Striped Carryall from Bergdorf Goodman, with our Onyx Stemware.

Row 2: These striped balloons add just right amount of pizzazz.  They pair perfectly with this POSH place setting which includes Gold Bead Glass Charger, Black Banded Dinner Plate, Sevres Collection Dinner Plate, Barcelona Gold Salad Plate, Dynasty 24K Flatware, and Black + White Striped Linen. This setting was designed by Bows and Arrows for a Glamping special that we featured on our blog.  The perfect way to finish off is with the Black Victoria Ghost Chairs courtesy of Resource One, Inc, exclusively at P.O.S.H. To Do | Plan for Valentine's Day

Thursday, February 6, 2014

It's always so hard to come up with a gift for Valentine's Day that isn't cheesy or commercialized. This year, why not do something special with our friends at Experimental Table. We've gushed over their Dinner in the Field and inspiring story before. Now they're offering a Valentine's Day "Date in a Box" featuring their ever evolving and fresh farm-to-table menu. Add some elegant place setting from POSH, and this will be a date night for the books. For more details, visit Experimental Table here.

You know the meal will be good. Now you just need to spice up your tabletop. We love Experimental Table's original picks for a dinner in the field. It will brighten your table at home without getting into cheesy Valentine's Day territory. Mix our Carnival Glassware (shown below in green) and vintage flutes for a toasting, and add a classic pattern to your place setting, like the Sevres Collection from Charles Sadek.

With Ground Hog day just passing, Phil, the groundhog, did in fact see his shadow and crawled back into his burrow predicting another six weeks of winter.  Although little Phil predicts more Winter, we at P.O.S.H. are seeing Spring tabletops.  Phil may be a reliable source for predicting whether or not winter will continue, but P.O.S.H. is an even more reliable source for predicting what looks best on your table.  Take it from us, Spring is in the air.

Why not create a tabletop that breaks you out of the cold of Winter and invites the feeling of Spring.
