Entertain: The Layered Look

Thursday, September 27, 2012
The layered look isn't just for fashion. Adding layers to your place setting not only adds a luxurious element to your tabletop, it's also great for highlighting signature dishes. Depending on the event and the courses, you can add anywhere from two to ten layers on your place setting. From the foundation of a charger (or two), followed by dinner plates, salad plates, bread & butter plates (all with their own chargers) - you literally can go as layered or light as you wish. This may seem daunting but it's actually great for showing off great catering or your mother's famous dishes. One of the reasons we have so many collections - from couture china to the everyday catering china - is that we understand our clients don't want a generic look for an event or dinner that they have spent weeks or months planning. Your tabletop should be a reflection of you or your guest of honor. This is why we have collections that allow your to mix and match couture, chic, and catering pieces that create a signature tabletop that fits your budget while still allowing for creativity and customization. Go big with a layered look of full couture pieces, add in a few chic pieces along with the catering collection, or just pick one or two couture pieces to compliment your personal collection. Any way you choose, we will make sure your tabletop is a direct reflection of you.

GOLD: Gold Florentine Charger, Arte Italica Plate, Noritake Salad and B&B Plate, Gold Bead B&B Charger.
SILVER: Clear Hand Cut Glass Charger, Barcelona Silver Dinner, Salad, and B&B Plate, Silver Bead B&B Charger, Champagne Nu Silk napkin with rhinestone napkin holder.

What Wowed Us: Sweet Home San Antonio

Wednesday, September 26, 2012
A Northeast bride returns to her Southern roots in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, for a gorgeous wedding. There is nothing like celebrating nuptials with timeless designs and family traditions. Images of the event designed by Sweet August Events were captured by Archetype Studios. You'll be able to see much more of this posh wedding today on the always inspiring Style Me Pretty. We had to share a few favorites, but you be sure to check out the full gallery here. You won't want to miss the all-female mariachi band!

 1. Some pictures are worth a thousand words: These two images fit the phrase nicely - The first kiss as Mr. and Mrs., and cute kiddos waiting to walk down the aisle.
2. The elements of a classic wedding? Gold chiavari chairs, ivory linens with insane details, and an equally gorgeous cake. Catering by Hotel Contessa.
3. Texture is, in fact, everything. Details on a custom Luna Novias wedding gown (left) and the Resource One Ivory Circle Ribbon Taffeta linen, exclusively at POSH Couture Rentals.
4. We love the way the bride incorporated meaningful and beautiful elements into every inch of this day, from the something blue in her floral bouquet by Fresh Urban Flowers to her cute Bella Umbrella
5. The happy couple on location at Hotel Contessa and the San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio, Texas.

Tabletop Tuesday: Velazquez at Meadows Museum

Tuesday, September 25, 2012
The Meadows Museum at Southern Methodist University has always done a fantastic job curating exceptional exhibits in Dallas. Now, their collaboration with Madrid's famed Prado Museum has set the bar even higher for not just Texas but museums nationwide. In fact, the latest exhibit features important works from Diego Velazquez which art historians now believe to be the first portraits of Spain's King Philip IV. Take advantage of your close vicinity to SMU and see what even The Washington Post is calling "the most important exhibit devoted to Velazquez in the U.S. in more than two decades." (The exhibit will run through January.) We were honored to be a part of the Velazquez Black Tie Dinner, designed by SMU's Marin Fiske-Rankin and photographed by Tamytha Cameron Smith. To learn more about the Prado - Meadows collaboration, visit here.
