Tastemakers: An Aerin Lauder Inspired Labor Day

Friday, August 24, 2012
We're busy preparing for what will be a very eventful Fall, but that doesn't mean we're letting August go out with a whimper. With Labor Day just around the corner, we're excited about last trips to our favorite waterfronts (from Montauk and Tahoe to Austin's Travis Lake), watching the sunset, and celebrating Summer with one last hurrah. Inspired by the always lovely Aerin Lauder, we've recreated an easy and elegant tabletop sure to be the backdrop for a wonderful long weekend. Aerin curated her look for Food & Wine Magazine. It's similar to a tabletop we've had in our showroom all summer long (What can we say? We have a penchant for all things blue and white!) and the perfect look for your Labor Day weekend.

new look: we're updating the blog!

Thursday, August 23, 2012
Hello, there POSH Pals. Over the summer, we have put a lot of thought into expanding the POSH brand to better serve you. The first step? Giving our blog a facelift. With this in mind, please excuse us today as we continue to update this site. Our hope is to make it easier for you to search for the items you need. (Love our vintage carnival glass? You will be able to search for it on the right. Need to keep up on the latest trends and classic styles? You can do just that with our Tastemakers tab. Want to see every Tabletop Tuesday? Now you can click on what you want under What's Haute!) Our hope is to to give you the tools and inspiration to tackle every event in your life, from family dinners and celebrations to elaborate events. Our desire is to make sure your guests get the POSH treatment every time they sit down at a tabletop designed with your needs and style preference in mind. With every new series offered on the blog, from color schemes to etiquette, we will give you insight into creating a perfectly posh event. No carbon copies here; this is uniquely you.

Cheers to better serving you. Image via here.

Entertain: Tea at Three

Wednesday, August 22, 2012
There is something elegant and whimsical about taking tea. Maybe it's because of a summer of London fever (Queen's Jubilee/Olympics) or maybe it's in anticipation of the next season of Downton Abbey. Whatever it is, we're wondering why we've gotten away from the ritual of tea at three. We know; it's hard to take time from the rush of your daily activities. The cultural norm tells us not to stop, but wouldn't it be nice to bring back the simplicity (and welcomed break!) of such a pleasant pastime? Beyond afternoon enjoyment with friends, taking time to enjoy a cup of your favorite tea or coffee is nearly a lost art at dinners and events. What better way to bring back conversation than offering your favorite roast or brew to the table? Luckily for you, we have a beautiful selection of cups and saucers for your next soiree. Stop by the showroom and check out our latest offerings. We've already stocked the coffee and tea bar just for you.

Tabletop Tuesday: Pink & Purple

Tuesday, August 21, 2012
Pink and purple can be adorable, they can be sweet, but if you pick your tabletop carefully, they can also transform your setting into an lavish affair. Jordan Payne of Jordan Payne Events perfectly captures this air of opulence with an ombre mix of candy toned hues with darker purples. Revealed in Brides of North Texas' Fall 2012 issue, this tablescape shows just how easy it is to transition pink and purple into a decidedly mature event.

Outfit to Tabletop: A Touch of Turquoise

Monday, August 20, 2012
Like you, we're obsessed with sea of style out there in the blogoshere. One of our favorites is an L.A. based style blogger originally out of Dallas - Devon Rachel. Her style is classy and transcends the trends. When we saw her Turquoise in Texas post, we knew we wanted to see if we could take one of our favorite colors and transition it from Devon's outfit to two different POSH approved tabletops: one, a fun and funky mixture of print and color, and the other a more traditional streamlined tabletop. We fell in love with both looks. Which would you use?

Devon wears a Parker top with a Lauren Elan 'Olivia' necklace, and Michael Kors purse. (See more of Devon and her outfit here). To transition from the outfit to tabletop, we chose an Ivory Nu Silk linen from Resource One (exclusively available at POSH), and layered the pop of color and print with our Scalloped Acrylic Charger in turquoise and Leopard China. We love how Devon brings in touches of gold with her jewelry, so we brought in our best gold flatware - the Dynasty 24 Karat flatware collection.

If fun and funky doesn't really fit your vibe, we also transitioned this into a more traditional tabletop.

Start off again with a neutral palette. We chose the Oatmeal linen and layered it with Natural Metallic Weave lined with Green Tea Sateena runner from Resource One. Begin with a Silver Radiance Charger, then layer with our Barcelona Silver Dinner Plate, Silver Bead Charger, Barcelona Silver Salad Plate, and Silver Radiance B&B. Complete the silver look with our exclusive Silver Goblet.
