Weekend To Do: August

Friday, August 9, 2013

Get Inspired: The September issues are slowly trickling in. We love seeing Daria Werbowy's touch editorial in Vogue UK (you can download that one now on your ipad). The Town and Country issue looks like it will be pretty great too, with two of our favorite young tastemakers on the cover: Claire Courtin-Clarins and Lauren Bush. Plus, who isn't excited about seeing Princess Diana on the cover of Vanity Fair -- this one will hands down be the best last summer weekends reading material.
Get Local: The Dallas Design District is our home during the week, but the weekend is proving to be pretty festive. Check out their indoor/outdoor events Saturday around the neighborhood; first stop should be The Dallas Contemporary. More details here. If you're out on date night, FT33 is a hot restaurant that everyone has been talking about. You know it's worth the hype when Bon Appétit Magazine names it one of the 50 best new restaurants in America. We're dying to try it!
Get Involved: TWO x TWO for aids is well-known around Dallas and the nation for raising over $40 million in support of amfAR’s AIDS research initiatives and the DMA’s contemporary art acquisition program. Beyond being a worthy cause, they have amazing pieces of artwork that have national collectors taking note. Check out their catalog here. Our favorite are the brilliant neon statements from Tracey Emin (Trust Yourself, £35,000) and the killer artwork of Brooklyn artist Emilio Perez (Just Another, acrylic and latex on wood, $18,000). Add to your collection and support this beautiful cause.

For the Bride: Modern Bohemia

Thursday, August 8, 2013
Late summer and early fall are prime times for Southern brides to hold weddings. Modern bohemian brides love the idea of mixing and matching a variety of vintage china patterns and styles for a whimsical and romantic tabletop look on their wedding day. We're inspired by these lovely ladies who's natural beauty and elegance takes center stage on the Big Day. With them in mind, we've curated several pieces into a POSH Vintage Collection. Think Depression-era glassware and goblets, cut crystals, and floral patterns ranging from beautiful unlabeled collections to heirloom worthy antiques from Limoges, Haviland, and Noritake (to name a few) that transition perfectly between the high-low with the P.O.S.H. stamp of approval. So, if you are the modern bride thinking of a vintage styled wedding, come visit us to see what treasures from the past will be used to celebrate your future.

Today's tabletop Tuesday is a true treat: A sneak peek into the gorgeous pagers of the Fall 2013 issue of Brides of North Texas, which has proven itself to be the top-rated bridal magazine in Texas. Every page is filled with inspiration for future brides, and even for those of us who have already had our big day but love perusing inspiration boards to get ideas for future events. Crystal Frasier of Crystal Frasier Weddings teamed up with several talented vendors for the Fall issue, creating a romantic and whimsical design that has us falling in love with tablescapes all over again. Sometimes sticking with the classics is the perfect polished look you're looking for an unforgettable day.

A beautiful invitation to set the tone for the event from Imaj Design.

Throw a POSH Picnic

Monday, August 5, 2013

With the last month of summer sure to fly by, we're dreaming of last minute excursions to the lake or coast for a POSH picnic with close friends and loved ones. Gather together an array of artisan cheeses and meats, fresh fruit, white wine, lemonade for the little ones, and perhaps even a pie or baked goods. We like to make the whole experience memorable, so we pick an assortment of china and glassware that fits the vibe and makes a good backdrop for a festive afternoon of great conversation and fun photo ops. Our new P.O.S.H. Vintage Collection is a fun alternative to the typical paper plates and plastic tableware. It's the perfect intimate setting to celebrate birthdays, pop a big question (future grooms - hint, hint), or make your kiddos feel really special and get out in nature.

Seaside picnic with assorted china plates and saucers. Set the tone with candles, seashells, and textured linens and blankets.

Can't make it to the lake? Turtle Creek is the perfect place for an Uptown picnic.

If sitting on the ground isn't your cup of tea, our white folding chairs are an easy way to provide comfortable seating with minimal setup and space. Decorate with pompoms for a fun affair.

Planning a really special moment on your picnic? Be sure to take the proper place setting to set the stage for success. Sevres China and Royal Gold Champagne Flutes are our top picks. Photo credit: Karlisch Photography
