Celebrate | Golden Years

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. Before you relax too much, be thinking about the perfect way to ring in the New Year. We love a big party as much as the next gal, but we'd really love to spend the evening with close friends over an intimate dinner with great food and conversation. New Year's calls for breaking out sequin and sparkly outfits and the most luxurious china. We're still pondering over what dress to wear, but for tabletop, the best choice is definitely Arte Italica. The gold rimmed glass dinner plates have class and luxury down with out needing much else. Adding Valencia Stemware and Dynasty 24 Karat Gold Flatware will top off the look perfectly. What will you be serving your friends for the New Year's? We're still taking last minute orders, so call us to ring the New Year's in, in style.

If you're thinking about blue + white for fall

Thursday, September 5, 2013
Flawless Valentino campaign. Images via Valentino / Blue and White China takes center stage on an otherwise minimal setting of Royal White Charger, Clear Glass Charger with Silver Rim, Silver Flatware, and Blue-Green Swirl Stem Glassware. Image via POSH.
Inspired by the Valentino Fall editorial campaign, our transitional tabletops from the last days of summer to the early days of fall have a heavy blue and white feel. Valentino designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli cited Flemish paintings and "Calvinist simplicity" as inspiration for their fairy-tale sartorial 2013 collection. What we take from the look (beyond just gorgeous blue and white): Let your prints do the talking when going for a more minimalist feel. One gorgeous china pattern with a stunning accent goblet may be all you need for a modern tabletop. This is perfect before layering on more pieces for fall, in both your wardrobe and tablescape. Flawless.

For the Bride: Modern Bohemia

Thursday, August 8, 2013
Late summer and early fall are prime times for Southern brides to hold weddings. Modern bohemian brides love the idea of mixing and matching a variety of vintage china patterns and styles for a whimsical and romantic tabletop look on their wedding day. We're inspired by these lovely ladies who's natural beauty and elegance takes center stage on the Big Day. With them in mind, we've curated several pieces into a POSH Vintage Collection. Think Depression-era glassware and goblets, cut crystals, and floral patterns ranging from beautiful unlabeled collections to heirloom worthy antiques from Limoges, Haviland, and Noritake (to name a few) that transition perfectly between the high-low with the P.O.S.H. stamp of approval. So, if you are the modern bride thinking of a vintage styled wedding, come visit us to see what treasures from the past will be used to celebrate your future.

If You're Thinking Tiffany Blue

Monday, July 29, 2013

Tiffany Blue...The iconic color strikes several images in our heads. Specifically, the little blue box desired by brides the world over, the simple elegance of real luxury, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and, as of late, The Great Gatsby's collection of beautiful jewelry. We loved the look of Kate Hudson's Tiffany Blue dress and thought it would look beautiful translated to tabletop. We added just a touch with our Tiffany Blue napkin with crystal elements and couture flatware, perfect for a dream wedding or anniversary party.

If you're thinking about the seaside

Just because you're sitting by the sea doesn't mean you lack the style of a P.O.S.H. place setting for your guests. Take a cue from the always on point Grace Kelly, who took the laid-back vibe of beach life by mixing it with the elegance of a princess. Bring texturized elements, like rattan chargers and fruitwood chiavaris, and pair them with crystal stemware or luxurious metals for a seaside embrace of the high-low trend. Palm Beach approved.

If you're feeling peachy keen

Wednesday, July 17, 2013
Pretty in peach: A simply white square dinner plate adds a modern element to this sweet peach tablescape. It's like a white tee for your couture ballgown. Jil Sander would approve.
We love a great peachy hue. It basks in Summer tablescapes with hints of orange and red or sets off a sweet yet simple place setting. Come Fall, it strikes a chord with deep browns and greens. Simply put, it's the under-appreciated neutral of the color wheel. So, if you are already thinking about peach when it comes to event decor or your fashionable attire, go for it. Peachy keen, indeed.
Chic peach: If simple is not your calling card (don't worry, we always think more is better), then call out the couture with a luxe layered look that will go from sweet to sassy with the bat of an eye. Get the look with P.O.S.H. Gold Florentine Charger, Arte Italica Dinner Plate, Gold Leaf Dinner Plate, Sevres Salad Plate, Birch Hall Flatware mixed with Artesian Flatware, and Light Pink Chloe Goblets.

Hues to Use: Pink + Gold

Monday, June 10, 2013

Pink + Gold: It's the color combo that has packed the most powerful punch in our favorite weddings of the year (just see for yourself here and here). Maybe it's because the flattering tone of a fleshy pink reflects perfectly the luminescence of rich gold or their luxurious pairings with metallics on tabletops. You're sure to find a reason all your own to love this duo. Just a glance at this beautiful dress and we knew exactly how it would translate to tabletop with a delicate Gold Beaded Tulle overlay from Resource One, exclusively at P.O.S.H. Couture Rentals. Underneath, a beguiling Petal Pink linen that has just a whisper of blushing flesh tones. Top it off with a very fitting place setting of Royal Gold Stemware. Now that's how you get ready for a June wedding.

If you're thinking...exotic locales

It's that time of year when we're planning travel destinations around exotic locales. Whether or not we actually make it there or just throw together an amazing dinner for friends at our own abodes, we're hearing the Mexican Riviera calling our name. With a look perfect for a destination wedding with concepts created by Signature Consulting & Design, this radiant tabletop is perfect for the caftan wearing hostess with the mostess or boho bride.

Bring in simply floral arrangements and easels showcasing Mexican votive paintings for a gorgeous backdrop, as would the beautiful flora and fauna of traditional Southwest landscapes, such as succulents and bright colors. We take note from such scenic beauty and bring that feel to the tabletop.

Gold Radiance chargers, Parisian flatware, and an assortment of colorful Vintage Carnival Glassware make an ideal place setting. Throw in a chevron print here and there, and you've got a tabletop sure to transport friends and family from backyard bliss to the exotic locale you're dreaming of.

The art of dressing up

Monday, May 20, 2013
Left, Mui Mui shoes / Right, A tabletop inspired for the girls with the perfect pops of pink and gold.
Playing dress up begins at five and never truly ends is an understatement. We feel the same way about our tabletops. After all, Mom said not to play with your food, not with your china and patterns. With love a calculated break from tradition, a sudden pop of color, and anything that sparkles when we're celebrating a night worth really dressing up. Inspired by these cool Mui Mui shoes, this tabletop embraces pink with a look that's fit for a princess but chic enough for the adult tables when paired with gold. All it's missing is the girls. Tell us, when you plan for a girls night in, how do you dress up the table?

If you're thinking bohemian rhapsody

Monday, May 13, 2013
While perusing Pinterest for Spring moodboards, we found the perfect looks for the modern gal with bohemian sensibilities - a tablescape inspired by flora and fauna with a minimalist twist. Go with more textures over more colors and incorporate a few bits of greenery from the outdoors. Inspired by the romanticism of the backless gown on the left, which has just the right amount of skin in the right places to leave you with a wink and a smile, the place settings on the right have just the right mix of metallic and color with natural textures from centerpieces to promote a tablescape with this year's color of the year. It's sweet without being syrupy and the perfect way to dress your table for Spring. // Get the look with P.O.S.H.: Gold Rimmed Glass Charger and Emerald Chloe Goblet. Toast: The Grand Dames

Wednesday, May 8, 2013

Today we're toasting the grand dames in our life - the matriarchs. Who would we be without the eclectic upbringing our grandmothers provided, the wisdom of our older aunts and female friends, and the unconditional love of our mothers. Their support comes in different forms, sometimes in ways we will never understand, and cannot be defined by any phrase or saying better than that one huge little word - love. We celebrate their uniqueness and originality; their quirks and their quips; and, especially, their love of celebrating life. It would be an injustice to not toast them with anything less than a fiercely fabulous tablescape. Tap into the personality of the grand dame in your life and set the table according to the style you see them exhibit in their daily lives.

Women of a certain age are, in our opinion, the most beautiful beings on the planet. They have come into their own and ushered in new generations along the way. They haven't lost their love of all things pretty and pleasing and no longer get hooked on trends. So, how to set the table for them? We matched images of our fab ladies (including the awesome Iris Apfel) to tablescapes perfectly tailored to their looks. Both are at once traditional and elegant, yet exotic and textured; a perfect dichotemy for a well-rounded woman.

Entertain: Cinco de Mayo

Monday, April 29, 2013
Viva la Mexico! If you live in Texas, you likely get in the spirit of Cinco de Mayo. The Mexican holiday literally takes over the city in much the same way as St. Patrick's Day. We like the idea of celebrating the fifth of May with friends and family and formal yet fun place settings. Inspired by a destination wedding, this radiant look captures the essence of bright and beautiful decor of Mexico with a few simple pieces. The influence of this vibrant culture is seen all along the Southern states. With a bold take on color combinations, it can easily transition into any palette you choose for any event or wedding, not just this festive holiday. If you want to up the glamour, just add precious metals.

If you're thinking about scalloped edges

Monday, April 15, 2013

Whimsical design in unexpected places - that's what really inspires us. Just take the scalloped edges that are making the rounds from the sweetest Spring fashions to festive, colorful chargers. We love the lining of these shorts for their unique take on hemlines. It's such a fresh take for an adult short look. Taking that inspiration to tabletop, we love the idea of adding an acrylic scalloped charger for an undeniably chic accent to any tablescape. It's time to get scalloped!

If you're thinking about blue + white

Monday, April 1, 2013
Since its moment of import in the 17th century, blue + white china has been a mainstay in European culture. Trickling down to the American royalty and social lifestyles of our most iconic tastemakers, it left an indelible impression that hasn't been lifted. We love when the designs gets a breath of fresh air or a new medium, like the Oscar de la Renta wedding gown pictured below. Every piece of blue + white china in our collection has a unique design that is intentionally curated to mix and match within this collection or other porcelains and chinas, making it easy to freshen up a traditional look that has become an elegant staple in our culture of entertaining and Southern hospitality. How do you do blue + white?

Left: OSCAR DE LA RENTA Spring 2013 wedding gown. Right: The Flora Awards adds elegance with Blue + White China, Barcelona Gold Charger, Parisian Flatware, Gold Lace Stemware, Cobalt Linens, and White Nu Silk Napkins.

WHAT WE LOVE
Traditional blue + white china set the tone for an elegant affair with a modern appeal. The typical white wedding gown gets a Oscar's take on "something blue" and the tabletop  gets a touch of metallics with our Gold Lace Stemware, Barcelona Gold Charger, and Parisian Gold Flatware.

If you're thinking sweet and southern

Thursday, March 21, 2013
For the bride or hostess on a budget, here's a place setting that will have guest praising your simple yet stunning details. Focus on one couture element, like our Sevres Collection, and add in sweet (and affordable) accents to balance your Southern sophistication. We can see this look going from the bridal brunch and reception to Easter and Mother's Day.

What We Love

If you're thinking about black + white

Monday, March 18, 2013
Black and white is always nice, but why not punch up the cool factor by mixing in metals. We love a lady who knows how to accessorize and layer. We took a note from this stylish personal styling and saw a perfect match for a posh place setting with this classic color combo. This tabletop transitions from a gorgeous reception to the anniversary dinner. Tell us, how do you do black + white?

If you're thinking about Spring blooms

Thursday, March 14, 2013
Perhaps our favorite thing about Spring is the bright blooms that begin popping up everywhere. Nothing inspires a beautiful tabletop more than a great centerpiece, and that is something Jackson Durham definitely has down. Take direction from their beautiful floral arrangements and set a festive table with pops of pink and orange.

If you're thinking about modern white

Wednesday, February 27, 2013
When it comes to tabletop, white always feels right. But if you're a modern bride who wants to stay classic yet fresh, or hosting a dinner that needs to hit on elegance yet not feel dated, the right mixtures of white and metallic tones will instantly update your tablescape.

Get the look with POSH: Gold Rimmed Glass Charger with Michelangelo Flatware.

What We Love
The cut of the dress with striking gold accents in her accessories makes the dress the on the left feel modern and fun. She could be easily be a bride, a gal on the town, or a women on the way to the opening night gala. Taking cues from her look, use your own white linens and add our Gold Rimmed Glass Charger or silver accent goblets. If you'd rather use a more texture-rich linen, Resource One's White Beaded Embroidered Taffeta or Lace linens are perfect. Like any look, edit down to the basics and see what phenomenal accents make the entire look worthwhile. What accents would you add to this look?

If you're thinking about glamour

Monday, February 18, 2013

Oscar de la Renta is a constant source of inspiration. He manages to make a luxurious statement with every collection. Glamor drips from everything he touches, even the most saccharine of colors, like pink. When we think of dressing the table as Oscar would his latest runway, we think of appeal of elaborate details - like the gold filigree etched throughout his gown below - and translate that to tabletop with our Gold Lace collection. Excess is never a question with Oscar, but it is just the right amount. Our favorite words of wisdom from the notable designer in regards to tabletop: "Set the table and make it beautiful, then don't pay any more attention to it." We can help with that.
