This Sunday we celebrate the numbero uno man in our life - Dad. He probably taught you how to play a sport or two (or at least tried), took you to buy your the first dress that really mattered, gave you advice on who not to date (i.e. everyone), fixed a flat tire or two, and gave warranted (and unwarranted) advice. He set the bar for every man who entered your life after him, so shouldn't you steer away from cheesy place settings and create a proper tabletop that reveres the man of the hour. For all the dads out there, this is for you.

1. The Man's Man Dad - He hikes, bikes, rotates the same wardrobe choices because "they just work," and can probably cut fishing line with his teeth. While we may have exaggerated on that last bit, he is rugged without being scruffy, masculine and in tune with the family. Pick a place setting that is simply yet sturdy with significant details that won't go unnoticed. Place Setting: Silver Acrylic Charger, Birch Hall Flatware, Elise Cut Crystal Tom Collins, Silver Rimmed Goblet; Linens: Navy Crinkle Taffeta Tablecloth, Ivory Hemstitch Napkin

2. The Confident, Not Afraid of Color, Dad - He has a creative side, appreciates the beauty of everyday, has a great sense of humor, and is one of the first people to notice a new haircut or dress. In short, he is not afraid to be himself. Give him something just as unique and special. Linen: Go the extra mile with an artistic table linen like the Bone Jetzen from Resource One, exclusively at P.O.S.H. Couture Rentals

3. The Dapper Dad - He probably knows who Nick Wooster is, collects vintage records, knows his whiskey and wine, and appreciates a great bow tie. Serve up a king-like feast for this patriarch with an equally fetching tabletop. Place Setting: Chocolate GEO Charger, Mottahedeh Tree China, Barcelona Silver China, Parisian Flatware, Elise Cut Crystal Stemware, Silver Rimmed Goblet. Linens: Khaki Satin Table Linen, Navy Striped Satin Table Linen, Ecru Hemstitch Napkin (folded as a bow tie, of course.)

4. The Wise Dad - He told everyone to stop smoking years ago, he knows what's going on with the DOW and men's fashion, he's beyond politics but is involved (and has an opinion), he dresses like a man who has traveled the world, he puts a gentle hand on your shoulder and all is right in the world, he likes a double-shot espresso twice - and before 9am. Somebody set the table right for this man! Place Setting: Jan Barboglio Hammered Charger, Barcelona Gold China, Mahogany Rose China, Gold Floral Lace Demitasse, Dynasty 24K Flatware

Hues to Use: Pink + Gold

Monday, June 10, 2013

Pink + Gold: It's the color combo that has packed the most powerful punch in our favorite weddings of the year (just see for yourself here and here). Maybe it's because the flattering tone of a fleshy pink reflects perfectly the luminescence of rich gold or their luxurious pairings with metallics on tabletops. You're sure to find a reason all your own to love this duo. Just a glance at this beautiful dress and we knew exactly how it would translate to tabletop with a delicate Gold Beaded Tulle overlay from Resource One, exclusively at P.O.S.H. Couture Rentals. Underneath, a beguiling Petal Pink linen that has just a whisper of blushing flesh tones. Top it off with a very fitting place setting of Royal Gold Stemware. Now that's how you get ready for a June wedding.

Place Setting:Gold Beaded Glass Charger, Dynasty 24 Karat Flatware, Royal Gold Wine and Water Goblets
Linens: Petal Pink Shantung and Napkins; Gold Beaded Tulle Overlay from Resource One, Inc., exclusively at P.O.S.H.  Couture Rentals
