Cheers to the Weekend: Link Love

Friday, August 16, 2013

Happy weekend, everyone. For a little weekend reading, we're sharing a few links that will get you inspired to get your home, kitchen, and hostess planning duties in line for fall.

- Wondering what to bring as a hostess gift for those last soirees of the summer? Rue has the best list ever here
- Revamp your home interiors, or at the very least learn a little history, with a detailed legacy of Jackie O's decorating style. Get the goods over at Apartment Therapy
- We try to be healthy; we really do. However, there is nothing better than chocolate, and we can't wait to try all the treats on Southern Livings Best Chocolate Recipes list. Man, don't say we didn't warn you.
- Is there anything Gwyneth and her GOOP team can't do? Nope. See their tips for flower arranging by vase and have the most beautiful florals for your next festive fete.

Monday Moodboard: Haute Mama

Monday, August 27, 2012
It's officially back to school day in Dallas! Laurel and Jami were mothers before they became business owners, which means they don't have time to sweat the small stuff, have learned to balance work and home life, and get incredibly inspired by other moms who are doing the same thing. Because of this, today's Moodboard is for the haute mama who appreciates style and beauty, loves her family, and basically works her tail off to get the job done! In all seriousness, we are inspired by the amazing women on this board and the awesome work they have done professionally and personally. We hope you enjoy these iconic images, plus the petite-inspired pieces we threw in.

1. You may already know textile designer Lulu deKwiatkowski (her vivid and crazy prints are huge in Montauk and in her hometown of Los Angeles), but have you seen her adorable children's line for Schumacher? Eight printed and seven embroidered cottons come in various patterns and hues, from elephants to florals (as shown above). We've fallen for Lulu DK all over again, and you will too! Check out her adult line here and children's line here.
2. Jerry Hall with her children. The gorgeous Texan actually looks even more glorious when basking in the light of her children.
3. Milk and cookies - need we say more?
4. Jackie O: If you look up chic mother in the dictionary, you will find this face.
5. Natalie Vodianova is a Russian beauty you've undoubtedly seen in the pages of Vogue and more, but it's her work with the Naked Heart Foundation that inspires us. As founder of the charity organization, she makes sure kids all over the world have a safe and inspiring place to play.
6. An Eloise inspired birthday party. Petite chiavari chairs, and, of course, lots of pink!
7. Lulu DK Child 'Sky' fabric in baby blue. Didn't we say you'd love her?

Toast: Andy Warhol

Monday, August 6, 2012
"An obsession with fame and brand names is the essence of Andy Warhol's influence, some say." This quote from the New York Times struck us as we were catching up on one of our favorite artists of all time, the godfather of Pop Art himself, Andy Warhol. Say what you will about his attitude, his methods, and his madness, there is no denying the talent of a man who transformed pop culture and the art world. We can now only imagine what his talents could have brought to an internet-savvy world. So today, on his birthday, we toast Andy Warhol. May his fifteen minutes of fame never end.

Mix your pop elements and add fun tabletop additions, like bright bouquets or quirky bananas, made famous by Warhol himself. Don't you just love the cupcakes with Warhol inspired images?

Rentals: Louis Ghost Chair in Jet Black, Blue & White China, Mercury Glass Trumpet Vase, Black Square Acrylic Charger; Linens: Gold Paillette Organza, Gold Sequin Mesh, both Resource One, Inc. Linens. All rentals available at POSH Couture Rentals. Florals from Bows & Arrows.
Top: Jackie O and Marilyn immortalized as Warhol prints. Middle: A pop art inspired birthday party. Bottom: A Bows & Arrows retro photo shoot.

Want more of the King of Pop? The Metropolitan Museum of Art relishes his legacy with "Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years," opening in September. If you can't make it, read more about Warhol here.
