Press: D MOMS

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

D MOMS is quickly becoming one of our favorite lifestyle magazines. With it's gorgeous layout, inspiring Dallas women, and creative editorials. We we're thrilled to see Jami and Laurel featured on their Tastemaker Tuesday series. See their post below or go to the D MOMS website here.

Throwing a dinner party for 10 of your chicest friends this weekend, and your all-white Crate and Barrel place settings just won’t pass muster? Never fear, this week’s tastemakers are coming to your rescue.
With resumes that include stints at Dallas’ second-largest catering business as well as renowned boutique hotels and restaurants including the Adolphus, the Melrose, and The Grape, Jami Goetze and Laurel Howell understand what it takes to pull off a beautiful, memorable event. The duo joined forces to open P.O.S.H. Couture Rentals, a luxury event rental company offering a selection of highly edited specialty china, chargers, glassware, flatware, chairs, and linens. But the real genius is in the P.O.S.H. mix. Taking a cue from the fashion world, Goetze and Howell take a high/low approach to setting the table by stocking a mix-and-match selection of chic classics, on-trend accents, and couture pieces (think 18-karat gold etched plates created by Italian artisans). Consider your dinner party problem solved…
We asked the stylish hospitality mavens to share a few of the things they can’t live without.
Herewith Laurel and Jami’s favorites:
Laurel's Favorite Things

AG Jeans — A daytime go-to with Joie shirts and flats. After work, I’ll switch to heels if I’m going out.
Plastic Envelopes — I use these as receipt holders for organization.  If my handbag is not organized and clean, then I am a mess.  Everything else in my life can be crazy but not by bag.
Magna Carta Holy Grail by Jay Z – My taste ranges from jazz to soul and pop, but right now I can’t take off this album by Jay Z.
Clinique Glosswear —  These are all over my desk and in my handbag.
Magazines — I have around 300 all over my house, from Architectural Digest to Vogue – it’s how I stay inspired for my day job.

Jami's Favorite Things
Chanel Ballet Flats — pair with leggings to take things from function to extremely chic (not to mention comfortable).
MoMA — We are homebodies.  We like to go to the movies and swim in our pool.  We go to DC many times during the year and go to the museums and go to New York every chance we get.
Wood-burning Pizza Oven — Our date nights are family nights. My husband is a Chef and for a recent big anniversary we built a pizza oven in the backyard.   I must say it is hard to find a restaurant to beat the food that is coming out of that oven!

Agenda: August

Thursday, August 1, 2013

August in Texas means triple-digit temperatures and heat stroke, which means we're hitting the road y'all for end of summer getaways - some for fun, some for business. After Jami caught a week-long National Premier Baseball Championship with her oldest son (did you see the adorable - sorry, Joseph, I mean, handsome - picture of him pitching in Lubbock?), she headed to D.C., NYC, and New Jersey to visit family. (Jami, we hope all those Cake Boss pictures in Hoboken means you're bringing us back some serious goodies!) If we were with her, we would make sure to hit all of the Mr.'s restaurants in D.C.: Founding Farmers and Farmers Fishers Bakers, the award-winning and crazy delicious restaurants on every top brunch and lunch lists you can find in the area. Now, if we can only talk Joe into bringing the chicken and waffles or grilled cheeseburger to us!

Laurel is striking out too. She's been pounding the pavement to source a uniquely curated selection of vintage tabletop for our new P.O.S.H. Vintage Collection, with goods ranging from Pink Depression ribbed footed sherbet compotes to amber chalices and an eclectic assortment of fine china to make every meal memorable. We can hardly wait to share more with you. Stay tuned!

Those of us sticking around for staycations are catching up on our favorite blogs and planning our own alfresco dinners and backyard (or maybe indoor/air-conditioned) happy hours. To get inspired and brush up on etiquette, we've been reading the Bergdorf Goodman blog 5th/58th posts on e-etiquette, David Stark's entertaining tips, and the art of handwritten letters. With Fall just around the corner, it's time to plan before the hectic social season is in full swing. Be sure to follow us this month as we offer tips on transitioning your tabletop from summer to fall, etiquette and tabletop questions, plus a few guest posts from our muses.

Agenda: Strike Out!

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

Believe it or not, china collections and beautiful tablescapes aren't the only things that strike our fancy. Think more along the lines of strike outs, hours of innings, and sunflower seeds. Yep, we join the rest of America in loving baseball as one of our favorite pastimes. We have Rangers love, but our hearts go out to the high school players who really put their hearts and souls out on the field. Jaime is out this week in Lubbock, Texas, watching her son at the Premiere Baseball Championship with 1,100 high school baseball players. And us? We're nervously chewing sunflowers seeds in the office waiting for news. We had to take a moment today to wish Joseph Jr. good luck the rest of the week! Here's to beating your sixteen strike-out streak!

Entertain: Halloween

Friday, October 26, 2012
Maybe it's the candy and the costumes, but Halloween seems to bring out the little kid in us. Is there anything better than a fun evening of hocus pocus with friends and kiddos? Here's to hoping you have a wonderful Halloween weekend!

Invitation by Paperless Post

The Graveyard: No, this isn't from a movie or haunted house. We've mentioned before that Halloween is Jami's favorite holiday, and her front yard proves it. She and husband Joe create a fantastic display of ghouls and graves that bring in droves of trick-or-treaters.
The Tabletop: Mix and match from these fun and festive colors. (Clockwise from top left) Green Chloe Goblet, Onyx Glassware, Amber Goblet, Tangerine Acrylic Scalloped Charger with Leopard China, Scalloped Black Charger with Black and Gold China.
The Decor: (Clockwise from left) These wine bottles turned candle holders provide a glamorous look for Halloween. The decor should be as whimsical and enchanted as possible.
