Anjelica Huston for YSL, 1973. Image via here // POSH Place Setting with Resource One Linen.

This cold winter weather has us channeling one of our favorite movie stars - Anjelica Huston, shown above in a 1973 editorial for Yves Saint Laurent. She pulls off all the right seasonal tones, which we would also translate to tabletop. So if you're thinking high glamour and sophisticated holiday place settings, create your own textured tabletop with furs and velvet elements.

Silver Bead Glass Charger, Maple Glass Charger, Vera Wang Dinner Plate, Mottahedeh Tree Salad Plate, Silver Bead B&B, Michelangelo Flatware, White Chloe Goblet, Resource One table linen and fur napkin ring, exclusively at POSH.

POSH 101 | Set up the Bar

Thursday, November 21, 2013
Just a taste of what POSH has to offer in glassware. Rows from top left: Crystal Champagne Coup, Classico Flute, Pure Flute, Silver Floral Lace Flute, Valencia Etched Glass Flute / Balloon Red Wine, Classico White Wine, Red Chloe, Purple Stella / Classico Pilsner, Gold Scroll Pilsner / Irish Coffee Mug, Classico Old Fashioned, Brandy Snifter, Elise Cut Crystal Double Old Fashioned / Classico Cordial, Gold Leaf Cordial, Gold Floral Lace "Hot Toddy" Demitasse. Note: Blue circles indicate new items.
Mixologists, craft beers, and specialty cocktails are on the rise in Dallas. As the holiday season kicks into high gear, we're brainstorming on how to incorporate the best beverages into our parties. Of course, presentation is everything, so here are a few tips on picking the perfect statement stemware for an impressive displays come cocktail hour.

Serve your SPARKLING WINES in flutes, tulips, and coups. Fun fact: The original cocktail was served in a coup as is making a big comeback thanks to vintage inspired bars and movies like The Great Gatsby. Build a champagne tower of crystal coups or serve up some bubbly in shimmering etched flutes, like our Valencia Etched Stemware or Silver Floral Lace Flute - perfect for toasting the holidays or bringing in the New Year!

WINES are meant to be enhanced by their stemware. We offer everything from Riedel's award-winning linen of stemware to fun alternatives in bright pops of color and whimsical patterns. Our favorite new addition? The purple Stella goblet - it's sturdy with a wide mouth, perfect for pouring and sipping throughout the night.

Serve straight liquors in their specific glassware. We offer everything from shot glasses and cognac and brandy snifters to martini glasses and old-fashioneds. We love the idea of a seasonal warm beverage served in our Hot Toddy demitasse or Irish Coffee Mug. For dessert wines, pick a cordial that serves just the right amount for such a sweet liquor.

What else do you need for the perfect bar? How about a perfect ride. We love UBER for their posh ride, plus you can drink and dance the night away without worrying about driving.

Petite: Eloise + Brooklyn

Wednesday, May 1, 2013
Eloise leaving The Plaza? It only makes sense that she'd head to Brooklyn.

Don't we all have a fondness for Eloise and her life at The Plaza? Talk about every little girl's dream. Eloise has been turning six every year since 1955 and living it up in the Upper East Side (our kinda girl!). Even though she's not growing up anytime soon, she is developing her hipster sensibilities by moving into the fab Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn. Illustrator Joana Avillez captures the hilarious and very Eloise daily trails in her immortalized youth last month in New York Magazine

The new illustrations freshen up the history of Eloise without losing any of the pizazz we were used to at The Plaza. At P.O.S.H., we have our own little Eloise, Laurel's pint-size pistol Chloe. Like Eloise, she will be turning six this year, has the same penchant for creating her own fun, had a nickname for everyone she met while staying at The Plaza, and knows all about Brooklyn thanks to Solange Knowles. The new story line reminded us of Eloise-themed decor that Chloe would approve of for a petite buffet and tables. Read all about it and get inspired for your own P.O.S.H.Petite tablescape here.

From left, Chloe tries out the silver Mercedes at Bergdorf's during her first NYC trip last summer. / An Eloise themed buffet is too cute. More images here. /  Chloe hanging from the rafters at The Plaza. Just kidding. That's Chloe is her first television commercial, hanging from the monkey bars.

FNO Dallas: IsabellaRose + Louboutin

Thursday, September 6, 2012
What are you plans for Fashion's Night Out? If you're in Dallas, you have quite a few options - from runways at the Galleria with Pinkmemo, cocktails and shopping at Northpark, and art and fashion at Highland Park Village. (For a full list of events, check here.) While it's hard to pick one spot to spend the evening, we're planning on checking in at Kristy Stubbs Gallery in Highland Park Village to see the eleven-year-old wunderkind Isabella Rose Taylor who, among a zillion brilliant qualities, just happens to be a member of Mensa, an artist whose work is well known in Austin, and the fashion designer behind the IsabellaRose teen fashion line. Did we mention she's only eleven? She's a great example of hard work and dedication for our POSH petites, and we couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of her evening with Todd King. If you're around, be sure to get out and support a this wonderful young lady. If teen clothing isn't your thing, don't worry. Walk next door to the Christian Louboutin to get first dibs on the three exclusive designs which symbolize the Year of the Dragon launched specifically for FNO. Be sure to grab your platform peep toe, men's slipper, or iPhone case because you can only get these embellished beauties in three cities - Dallas, New York, and Los Angeles. (Read more here.) We're already so inspired, we decided to share our own Year of the Dragon tabletop.

This: Christian Louboutin exclusive FNO Year of the Dragon platform peep toe, men's slipper, and iPhone case. // That: Black Asian Dragon linen (Resource One, exclusively at POSH Couture Rentals), Red Chloe Goblet, Red Glass Charger, Black + Gold China Collection. // See more POSH Asian influence below from DSM Curtain Call Opening Gala.

Tabletop Tuesday: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Tuesday, August 7, 2012

Cyndi Lauper may have immortalized the phrase, but it was a POSH Petite Board Member (Laurel’s adorable daughter Chloe) that reminded us: Girls Just Wanna  Have Fun. Dressing up for 80s Day at school, Chloe’s layered lace, leggings, and teased hair inspired us to change up tabletop Tuesday with a throwback eighties theme. Whether you’re planning for your own posh petite cutie or a fun adult party, this decadent decade provides a dramatic background for your next event. Start with our exclusive Resource One Paris Plaid with black sequin trim linen. It’s reminiscent of vintage eighties Chanel prints, but the sequins take it to a new and fun level. Toss in the modern Onyx glassware, and you’ve got one wonderfully layered and luxe tabletop. For adults, we would suggest adding a few candles for an over-the-top tablescape, but we’re afraid of what could happen with all of that hairspray! Whatever you decide, this is sure to be a tabletop treat that gets guests in the mood.

Who knew the eighties could look so cute? Chloe (left) proves that layers and lace can be a showstopper. Just add a side ponytail and a little bit of attitude and you're all set! The POSH Petite tabletop (right) carries off the theme with aplomb. Rentals: Children's round table with Pink Chiavari Chairs, Paris Plaid linen (Resource One, exclusively ours), Black Acrylic Round Chargers, Pink Polka Dot China, Onyx Glassware, Cupcake Ferris Wheel; all POSH Couture Rentals.

Clockwise from top left: Our Eighties Mood Board. Cyndi Lauper's iconic album, Katy Perry's 80s throwback video ("Last Friday Night"), Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink, the ultimate teen - Sarah Jessica Parker as a young Carrie Bradshaw, cult classic Girls Just Want to Have Fun, starring SJP and Helen Hunt. Of course, we couldn't leave out two more stars of the decade: neon bangles and Aqua Net.
