Rustic Chic

Wednesday, April 9, 2014
Image via Pinterest

There is something so whimsical about a rustic chic theme.  The combination of the wood, neutral tones and elegant details creates an allure that is hard not to picture it somewhat out of a fairytale at times.  In fact, the perception of rustic chic can mean something different to everyone!  Yet to most, rustic chic bares an element of southern charm that is hard to shake (and we think it is what makes it so ideal)!  To some it may mean outdoors with all natural elements and simple at times, while others may picture a combination of garden-like décor with rustic elements.  A barn is not necessary to create a wonderful rustic chic décor!  Either way, trying to achieve a rustic chic appearance stands out on its own, if done right.

Incorporating rustic chic into your event can be done with the smallest of details to overall themes.  There are pieces such as the mason jar, string lighting, and wood farm tables or cross-back chairs that are essential to a rustic theme.  Overall, we love how these elements come together to create the perfect table and are partial to going all out to create the perfect look.
Our ideal rustic chic table design incorporates many of our P.O.S.H.® pieces to create the perfect design.  Our first thought is to use our wooden mayflower farm table and wooden cross-back chairs that exude the feeling of rustic and honestly they go together better than peanut butter and jelly.  In terms of creating the perfect tabletop, see below for what we believe are some of the best pieces to create rustic chic perfection!

Let us know what your idea of rustic chic is!

2014 is definitely storming...as in ice, snow, and incredible wind chills. This may be one of the coldest January's yet in Texas. In order to warm us up, we're brainstorming winter entertaining with haute looks even in the coldest temperatures. Get the look below.

1.  Dress the party with long, silk gowns worthy of a night on the town topped with layers of knits and furs. You'll be sitting pretty (and warm) even if the power goes out.
2. The look of our distressed ivory chiavari is a favorite for rustic winter weddings and events. It obviously looks great in outdoor settings but also has the proper style for seriously stylish entertaining well-heeled guests.
3. You really can never go wrong with a white place setting, especially if it's a Simply Platinum Dinner Plate mixed with Gold Leaf China.
4. The perfect party favor is one that keeps guest warm of course. We love the idea of cashmere throws that can easily be layered and thrown across legs and shoulders.
5. Warm up your core with a hot beverage, from the hot toddy to good old fashioned shots of whiskey, we have just the glassware for you.

Tabletop Tuesday: Once Upon a Fairytale

Once Upon a Fairytale, designed by Tami Winn Events. Photography by Tracy Autem Photography. Published in Brides of  North Texas, Fall 2013.  Get the look with POSH - Fruitwood Grand Chiavaris are the chairs of choice for a generous Southern seat.

Tami Winn's Fort Worth roots make her the ideal planner for a rustic yet luxe tabletop. If you know Cowtown, you'll understand why a love of landscape and nature as well as art and beauty permeates Tami's designs. For Brides of North Texas, she took her tabletop concept to Howell Family Farms and let her work come to life in this Southern fairytale setting. We love the mix of natural elements - burlap and greenery - juxtaposed with elegant mixed metals and decadent place settings. All you need is the happily ever after...

Spotted: POSH Around Town

Wednesday, August 21, 2013
Our clients come up with the most creative concepts, fun parties, and beautiful tablescapes. Here's a glimpse at what our P.O.S.H. pals around town have been playing with this summer.

Floral design Bryan Long obviously has more up his sleeve than transforming floral arrangements. We fell in love with his hydrangea green chiavari chair treatment (above) and can't wait to share more from him. Check back next week for a Q&A, and be sure to check out his website here.

Elizabeth Bynum worked with Rebekah and Josh on their beautiful wedding ceremony at the historical YWCA in downtown Fort Worth. They loved our Jute and Wheat linens, which added a luxurious element to their burlap and lace rustic vibe. Gorgeous! Image courtesy of Hannah Vickers Photography.

Our friends at NexGen Gateway Church hosted a tea with their wonderful women's groups. Our Sevres and Tea Service were the perfect addition to their afternoon.

Wedding Wednesday: Vows that Wow

Ivory chiavari chairs with ivory tufted cushions for sweet and chic seating.

Brides of North Texas is giving us a sneak peek on this Southern belle wedding with its chic spin on rustic tablescapes at Maria Gabrielle. What really caught our eye is the ease of the tablescapes even with couture china. The floral arrangements by Bows + Arrows coupled with our classic Sevres china transport this tablescape from downtown Dallas to romance of the French countryside. Brittany and Jamie unique picks set the tone for a truly picturesque evening. And how adorable is the sweet couple and their ring bearer and flower girl? We can't wait to see what the rest of the wedding looks like as we patiently await the next issue of Brides of North Texas. Be sure to pick up your own!

Is there anything better than an ombre petal runner surrounded by White Oak folding chairs? Only the stained glass at the end of the aisle - breathtaking!

TOAST: TRUE LOVE

Wednesday, February 13, 2013
With Valentine's Day being tomorrow, we thought it would be nice to toast true love. What better way to do so than with the wedding of our very own Meagan Hayes to Jason Kamerbeek. It was a true winter wonderland at the Kamerbeek's home in Waxahachie, Texas, held the weekend after Thanksgiving. Planner Emily Clarke, florist Di Fiori, and Meagan all worked together to capture the essense of a Texas Autumn and the spirit of celebration. It was the perfect wedding for a true Southern Belle.

On Trend: Laurel's Picks

Monday, October 22, 2012
Our favorite POSH pairings easily transition from Fall to Winter. Here, Laurel picks her favorite linens and tabletop collections and tell you why they work well alone or mixed with your personal collection for POSH perfect late Fall and early Winter tablescapes. How would you use these?

1. The Mottahedeh Tree Collection is a great pattern choice because it can be both modern and classic, rustic or contemporary, depending on the chargers and color schemes used in the tablescape. Our clients are extremely stylish, so we're always coming up with a new way to make this great collection look incredibly fresh and fun. For Fall or Winter, this is a clear choice for a stunning place setting.
2. Bronze Metallic Linens are a favorite for Fall and Winter. With baroque being so strong on the runways, we're seeing an influence of brocade linens as well. It's perfect for a luxurious tabletop for an important dinner or event. You can create an ornate tabletop with lots of metallic touches from our Couture Collections or let the linen speak for itself with the clean Simply Ivory Classic Catering Collection and a few embellished goblets depending on your personal preference and budget. The hues used in accents are really what will help transition this linen from Fall to Winter. The possibilities are endless.
3. The Jan Barboglio charger is so great. It can obviously be rustic, but the amazing thing about this design is it's unique enough to really make a couture china dinner plate completely pop. You can let your imagination run into the wild with Jan Barboglio.
4.  This Scarlet Leather Embossed Velvet linen is a favorite for the transition between seasons. The deep hue reminds me of the changing of the leaves in Fall, but then can easily transfer to traditional holiday hues. The texture alone is amazing. Again, it's one of those pieces that take your tabletop to the next level. (Check back tomorrow for a Tabletop Tuesday post featuring this great linen!) Guests don't forget a great linen or accent piece on your tabletop. With these four pieces, you have the making of a fantastic seasonal tablescape.

All pieces are rentals from POSH Couture Rentals. Linens are Resource One, exclusively at POSH Couture Rentals.

Toast: Jan Barboglio

Thursday, September 20, 2012

Today we toast metal artist Jan Barboglio. When you see a serving piece from Jan Barboglio, you know you are seeing artistry at its finest. We’re talking hand worked, hammered, sanded, and hand finished products renowned for their superb quality and style. The literary romantics in us can trace the landscape of Jan’s own journey through each piece – the artisan traditions of her native Mexico to the sophisticated aesthetics of Dallas.  This Texas designer’s beautifully rustic approach to design ensures each handcrafted piece holds its own stunning irregularities, adding a truly unique look to each individual piece. In our opinion, you can simply never have enough Jan Barboglio on your tabletop. We love using our Jan Barboglio charger as a foundation for layering everything from our Mottahedeh Tree China and Exotic Bird Collection to the basic catering collections. If you have a personal china pattern, pairing it with this hammered charger further creates a customized look that lends Jan’s distinct beauty to your tabletop. Add in our Jan Barboglio serving collection for a large dinner or event, and you’ll have an ample amount of Southern charm for your next feast.

Branching Out Floral & Event Design recently participated in a "Christmas in July" event at the Crescent Club. Their mission? You guessed it - create a unique holiday look for the Gourmet Room. The design team based their blended vibe of rustic elegance was inspired by owner Debby Jewesson's love for the understated glamour of Ralph Lauren. We think she captured the RL essence perfectly. Will this inspire your holiday Pinterest boards? It already has ours!

Weddings Roundup: Southern Belles

Monday, July 30, 2012
We love seeing the belle of the ball embrace her Southern roots. DFW Events designed the themes for today's weddings, stylishly moving from the country club to an outdoor scenic setting.

First up, high school sweethearts Sarah Howard and Lev Prichard. This beautiful wedding at the Highland Park Presbyterian Church followed by a reception at Royal Oaks Country Club looked classy with charming, personalized touches throughout. To see more images, see DFW Events blog here. Photography by Joseph Mark Photography.

Next, Southern charm knows no bounds in the wedding of Meredith Ellis and Robert Ulibarri. Meredith's family owns and operates G bar C Ranch, so it was the perfect backdrop for her own wedding reception. This rustic setting proves country can be cool and classy. We absolutely feel in love with this wedding photographed by Andrea Polito Photography in Abilene. Our West Texas clients always inspire us, and Sarah Kate and Zach were no exception. Emily Clark Events coordinated the wedding along with other amazing vendors, including florals by Fete des Fleur, music by the band Emerald City (have you heard them yet?), cake by Frosted Art Bakery, catering by Perini Ranch, and rentals by POSH Couture Rentals and Taylor Rentals. We picked our favorite images to share with you. Enjoy!
