Spring Forward | Nasher Garden Party

Nasher Sculpture Center from Marc Roberts on Vimeo.

With the Arctic Vortex literally putting a chill on our bright outlook, we knew it was time for a Spring throwback. The Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas (one of our favorite venues not only for parties and weddings but also to peruse on the random day off from work) shared a video highlighting their Garden Party from last year. We had the pleasure of working with amazing DFW vendors, like Mary Wright Shaw and Jackson Durham to name a few. This should get you in the mood for planning your next Spring soiree.

Tabletop Tuesday // Starry Nights

Tuesday, January 7, 2014
Tabletop design, floral arrangement, and image courtesy of Dr. Delphinium.

Dr. Delphinium has always had our hearts with their floral arrangements, but they also have a knack for creating unforgettable tabletops. With Art Deco being a huge trend in 2013 and 2014, they were influenced by the style of the roaring twenties as well. Luxe china collections and embellished linens certainly reflect the era of The Great Gatsby, and the Dr. Delphinium team captured it perfectly. We love the luscious floral arrangement (Daisy would approve) and the gold details sure to leave stars in your guests eyes. This is a tabletop perfect for breaking out of the winter doldrums or celebrating a bright new year.

2014 is definitely storming...as in ice, snow, and incredible wind chills. This may be one of the coldest January's yet in Texas. In order to warm us up, we're brainstorming winter entertaining with haute looks even in the coldest temperatures. Get the look below.

1.  Dress the party with long, silk gowns worthy of a night on the town topped with layers of knits and furs. You'll be sitting pretty (and warm) even if the power goes out.
2. The look of our distressed ivory chiavari is a favorite for rustic winter weddings and events. It obviously looks great in outdoor settings but also has the proper style for seriously stylish entertaining well-heeled guests.
3. You really can never go wrong with a white place setting, especially if it's a Simply Platinum Dinner Plate mixed with Gold Leaf China.
4. The perfect party favor is one that keeps guest warm of course. We love the idea of cashmere throws that can easily be layered and thrown across legs and shoulders.
5. Warm up your core with a hot beverage, from the hot toddy to good old fashioned shots of whiskey, we have just the glassware for you.

New Year Resolutions

Thursday, January 2, 2014
We're actually not one for resolutions made just once a year. But with so much happening for POSH in 2014, we can't see a reason not to actually.

1. Throw more "just because" dinner parties for the people that really matter. We love a great holiday tabletop or celebratory shower or anniversary, but we really like the idea of taking a normal night out of each month and making it special with unique place settings and recipes to show the people we love the most that we indeed love them the most.

2. Cook more meals at home. If we do number one on this list, then this is an obvious second on the list. Be prepared to find more recipes on this blog, featuring local favorites, Southern treats, and healthy versions of our favorite spreads.

3. Take care of our new store fronts. As in, a new website and a new warehouse. We will be launching a brand new website at the end of the month, and we cannot wait to show you what we've been working on. As for the new warehouse location, don't worry Design District neighbors, we are literally moving just down the street. It just means better ways to serve clients like you who allow us to do what we love doing.

4. Take time to smell the roses. We have a busy year ahead, but taking time for ourselves and families sounds like the best way to stay balanced.

5. Serve you better NOW. We're constantly working on this, and we'd love to hear from you. From comments to your own resolutions, give us a shout!

Countdown to 2014 | Part 2

Tuesday, December 31, 2013
We're sharing out favorite tablescapes of 2013 to countdown the New Year, and we did save the best for last. But first, let us wish you a very safe and happy New Year's Eve, friends. Enjoy the night by brushing up on POSH etiquette from the art of conversation to giving a toast and setting up the bar for the evening by browsing our POSH 101 series. Now, on to the pretty things.

The TWO x TWO Gala this year was extraordinary in terms of raising money, harnessing creativity (we're looking at you Todd Events), and expressing the power of simplicity with a subtle yet striking black and white aesthetic. Todd knocked it out of the park, proving yet again why he is one of the most in-demand planners in the industry.

Equally outstanding was this opulent beauty by wedding planner Diann Valentine. A mix of custom linens, gorgeous chairs, and silver place settings created one of the most romantic looks of the year, noted by everyone from Dallas industry vets to Grace Ormonde.  See more from this beautiful event here.

Equally dear to our hearts is the Hollywood Regency shoot by Emily Clarke Weddings & Events. The Gatsby theme has proven strong this year, and with inspired tablescapes like this, we hope it sticks around. See the whole shoot here.

Place Setting: Scalloped Black Charger with Sparkle, Barcelona Gold Charger, Black Banded Dinner Plate, Black + Gold Salad Plate, Dynasty 24 Karat Flatware, Elise Cut Crystal Red and White Stemware, Onyx Champagne Flute.  All POSH Couture Rentals. Images courtesy of John Cain Photography.
Our favorite Fort Worth gal Tami Winn also won over the hearts of thousands of girls planning their weddings with this seriously sweet spread for Brides of North Texas. It nearly makes us want to renew our vows in true Southern fashion. See more images here.

We can't talk about fairytale place settings with out mentioning our favorite POSH Petite tablescape, inspired by none other than Peter Rabbit, by our friends at Mathes & Co. (You can bet we'll be recreating this come Easter for our little ones.)
