Toast: Texas Discovery Gardens

Monday, November 26, 2012
'Tis the season to be jolly...and give back. P.O.S.H. is a proud supporter of many DFW organizations, so we are taking the time this month to TOAST a few of our favorite groups in hopes that it will inspire you this holiday season.

First up, Texas Discovery Gardens. P.O.S.H. had the chance to work with co-chairs Marilyn Waisanen and Waverly Smith and the fantastic team of TDG on tabletop donations for the 2012 Flora Awards, honoring Barbara Hunt Crow. Not only is TDG a beautiful place for us to visit (The Butterfly Garden is a must see!), but we were proud to help honor such a wonderful patron for this whimsical place this is both organic and sustainable. According to Flora Award Chair Marilyn Waisanen, “Barbara demonstrates through her deeds what it means to give back to your community. The staff and board at Texas Discovery Gardens are especially appreciative of Barbara’s commitment to our mission of environmental education.” (MySweetCharity)

If you haven't had a chance to see and support this local treasure for yourself, now is the time to do so. For more info, visit Texas Discovery Gardens here

Tabletop Tuesday: Fall Garden

Tuesday, October 16, 2012
This is an oldie but a goodie - a contemporary garden wedding reception at the Nasher perfect for a chilled, autumn evening. What makes this look so modern is the classic silver and gold tones used on everything from the linens to the flatware mixed with modern ghost chairs and floral arrangements. Very fitting for the Nasher, indeed. See more of this gorgeous reception on Style Me Pretty.

1. Head Table: The bridal table receives special seating and linens, all the better for guests to come and greet the newlyweds as well as for the couple to enjoy their friends and family. The perfect mod companion to this table? Kartell Louis Ghost Chairs from Resource One, exclusively at POSH Couture Rentals.
 2. Tabletop: A close up of the tabletop reveals the classic elements that make this look so timeless - Extreme Riedel glassware, Clear Glass Charger with Gold Rim, and Parisian flatware (all POSH Couture Rentals).
3. The luscious and luxurious scene: A nice touch here is the adding pashminas for guests on a chilly, autumn evening.
4. Mixed Metals: A closer look at the glass chargers and glassware.
5. Details: You can't go wrong with fabulous florals and Bell'Invito paper goods.

Tabletop Tuesday: Frida Kahlo

Tuesday, July 17, 2012
Time to get festive with a tabletop designed for a woman whose artistry truly knew no bounds--Frida Kahlo. DFW Events along with The Garden Gate created a bright and blooming tablescape worthy of this wildflower of an artist. The main focus? Our vintage Classic and Parisian Carnival Glassware. Viva la Kahlo!

Tabletop Tuesday: Georgia O'Keeffe

Tuesday, June 26, 2012
Continuing the D Weddings Fall 2012 series of asking wedding planners to create a tablescape for their ideal client, A Stylish Soiree chose Georgia O'Keeffe. This modern artist came to largely represent the American Southwest with her compelling landscapes and cultural body of work. Floral centerpieces that appear to be floating above the table, green landscapes and a setting in the outdoors would be O'Keeffe approved. We love the modern take Stylish Soiree took by incorporating green polka dots.

Rental items: Green Chiavari Chairs, Schott Zwiesel Pure Tritan Glassware, Green Chloe Goblets, Lime Round Scalloped Charger, Silver Bead Glass Plate, Green Polka Dot China, Barcelona Silver, Vintage Dessert Compotes. New to the Showroom: Blue-Green Glassware

Wednesday, May 9, 2012
Is the Texas heat already getting to us, or is it the latest edition to our showroom that has us dreaming of the next seaside getaway? Whatever the reason, we are loving the blue-green glassware that just came in today! The detail alone makes us swoon, and there has never been an easier way to add something blue to your wedding table top. (What? That isn't a requirement? After you see these, it just might be.) We took a couple gorgeous pics from our favorite wedding designers to show you were you can place these beauties. Sigh. We just might be in love!

Snapshots of the how well these glasses blend with a variety of linens. Top left to right: Blue/Green Embossed Chiffon (recognize these from the 83rd Annual Academy Awards?), Blue/Green Floral Organza, Blue/Silver Sheer Polka Dots; Bottom left to right: Teal Bark, Tiffany Bark, Chartreuse Bark. All linens Resource One, Inc., exclusively at POSH Couture Rentals. Blue/Green Glass: POSH Couture Rentals

Great look for a modern garden party. We would replace the green glass with our spiced up blue-green versions. The extra edition of blue would really make this table POP! Clear Victoria Ghost Chair available at POSH Couture Rentals. Image courtesy of Preston Bailey  - Todd Events.

We really are Southern girls at heart. Adding our new glasses would add a special vintage element to this rustic table top. Perfect! Image courtesy of Alice HU Photography.

A unique outdoor setting calls for unique tableware. Break away from a two-color combo by adding our glasses, which will add a subtle green to this beautiful tablescape. Image courtesy Agnes Lopez Photography.

Tabletop Tuesday: For Keeps

Tuesday, May 8, 2012
One of our favorite couples just celebrated an anniversary, and we wanted to celebrate by reliving their fantastic wedding tablescapes. While they got married in 2008, their fresh and fun spring wedding looks right out of a page from 2012. Congratulations, Brana and Adam Rope. We wish you a Happy Anniversary and lifetime of happiness.

Rattan chargers and natural chiavari chairs are perfect for this outdoor reception.

Brana and Adam kept it simple and sweet. Natural elements were complimented with pops of hot pink and gorgeous centerpieces.
No, this isn't table top, but we had to throw in the white oak folding chair. Proof that classic folding chairs look great, especially outdoors.

Chihuly Nights: Opening Night at the Dallas Arboretum

Monday, May 7, 2012
Dale Chihuly is an artist after our own hearts. His large-scale and glorious glass sculptures exude creativity, joie de vivre, and color in shapes and sizes that are beyond fascinating. After countless exhibitions around the globe, Chihuly finally came to the Dallas Arboretum for Chihuly Nights.

And the POSH train pulls into station! Our guys worked several hours to set up for opening night.

Word has it that Dallas has been trying to get Chihuly here for the past ten years. Time and space were the only real constraints, and finally the Dallas Arboretum was chosen to set up a site for Chihuly Nights. Powered by Cirro Energy, this major wonder costs $1.8 million to maintain over the six month course of it's stay in Dallas. Yes, this is something you want to see. We were thrilled to be a part of the opening gala and piece of Dallas' growing cultural mecca. Get your dose of Chihuly from now until November 15th.

Quite the scene! Our black chiavari are perfect for complimenting Chihuly's extraordinary colors.

A few snapshots from opening night. Amazing, right?

Moodboard: Significant Events of Texas

Wednesday, April 25, 2012
We love the design of this tablescape by Significant Events of Texas featured in the Spring/Summer 2012 issue of Brides of North Texas. Designer Meredith Commender created a table top out of box springs and make a look that was no less than amazing. To streamline the lush florals by Out of the Garden, Meredith chose our silver chiavari chairs, along with classic silver chargers, flatware, and silver rimmed glassware. This is definitely one for your mood board. Be sure to check out their video on inspiration behind the shoot here.

Tuesday Tabletop: Pastel Romance

Tuesday, April 24, 2012
Brides of North Texas recently featured POSH Couture Rentals on their blog! Designers Sarah Pittman & Trudy Baade of Lagniappe Weddings created a truly fabulous table top at the Four Seasons Resort & Club. Do you spot our Sevres China, chargers, flatware, and glassware? We love how the Lagniappe ladies added a clear ghost chair in the mix to keep things fresh.

Entertain: Fantastic Floral

Monday, April 23, 2012
Floral is hot this summer. We've blogged about here. You've seen it all over fashion and design magazines. So to start Monday off on the right foot, we're sending you this gorgeous table top. If you thought floral patterns were dated, think again.

Moodboard: Brights + Leopard

Thursday, April 19, 2012
We know a POSH lady or two who considers leopard print to be a neutral. Although that may not be a rule you're comfortable with, this fabulous fete may just change your mind. (And, hey. Some rules really are made to be broken.) Bring a sense of fun to your next party with a playful, multicolored palette like this table top featured in D Weddings. Sweeten the deal by letting the bold pattern of leopard print china show off by framing them with bright orange and pink scalloped chargers. Add in more pops of color with light green goblets (love our Chloe goblet!) and bright blooms. The exuberant and fashionable spirit of this haute tablescape begs the questions: Who wouldn't want to be invited to the party?

Orange and pink round scalloped chargers introduce a burst of color as the foundation for the "neutral" leopard print china. A light green Chloe goblet packs a punch when paired with our Pure Tritan Glassware.

The armless Victoria Ghost Chair in emerald green elevates this festive table from quirky to cool in no time.
Up close and personal.

POSH 101: Sitting Pretty

Friday, March 30, 2012

The first week of spring is here, inspiring us and other great vendors, like the lovely ladies at Branching Out Floral & Event Design. Their Stevens Park Golf Course "Spring Tee" shoot by Kari Crowe Photography featured springtime blossoms and stationary from Southern Fried Paper. We love the direction they took with our decorative flatware, crystal club glasses (filled with a Lemongrass Mojitos, no less), and natural colored grande chiavari chairs with white linens.

The Branching Out ladies made a perfect choice with the chiavari chairs. After all, seating is an essential element of any great event. A guest needs a place to sit and a hostess wants an attractive option that's easy on the eye and looks great in photographs. A POSH favorite, the chiavari chair is known for its versatility and ability to mirror the style of any event--from sophisticated weddings to garden-themed dinners, this baby is a mainstay on the sitting pretty circuit.

So where did this lovely classic originate from? In 1807, furniture designer Gaetano Descalzi created the Chiavarini (named so for the Italian coastal town where Descalzi lived). The elegant shape couple with its mobility (light, easy to stack) made it an instant hit that further proves great design withstands the test of time. From Mme. Brisson andthe Kennedy wedding to your next event, the chiavari is in hall-of-fame status.
